  2. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I also found 2 children's books on Amazon that got good reviews. I Was Born On 9/11 September 11
  3. Maybe Unit Study is the wrong name for what I want. I do want to teach my child what happened but not something that will be in depth and a month long.
  4. I think my request was pretty clear. Not sure the point is replying when you don't have anything to offer minus your opinion on what a bad idea it is to teach my child history from her country (which I do not agree with in the slightest but that's pretty obvious from my OP). Tracy, thanks so much for the book selection. I will definitely check that out!
  5. With the 10 year anniversary coming up, I thought it would be a good time to discuss the tragedy with my then 6 year old. Are there any (secular) unit studies out there for that young age? Or a good, thorough (secular) book covering it? TIA! Edited to add: Unity Study might not be exactly what I am looking for. But, yes, I do want to teach her that this occurred. I would like her to learn about it from me and not via a newspaper clipping or something (she reads at a 5th grade or so level so this is very possible). I am looking for suggestions and not people's opinions on whether or not they think my child is able to handle this. As her parent, I'll be making that decision. Thanks for anyone offering actual suggestions.
  6. As a Speech Therapist, I would only recommend it if it is impacting their communication and/or bothering them. Otherwise, I don't see the purpose.
  7. Yes, same here. And I knew several kids who would be treated as above in the poem who became major addicts. Glad my childhood wasn't that poem.
  8. Seriously or is this a joke? Given that my husband works for Hollywood and so many of our homeschool friends work in the industry, I sure hope you weren't serious. If so, I wouldn't paint with such a broad brush.
  9. I would like to get DD a picture dictionary to help support her Spanish lessons. Any recs? TIA!
  10. Cool, thanks! I look forward to your future posts :)
  11. I'm just going to bump my old post, just in case there are some new blogs to share. I've made my layout for the year but still need to prep more (I want to try and prep as much as possible for the year). And I will definitely blog our lessons once we start First Grade. Anyone have blogs/blog posts to share? :bigear:
  12. Anyone? If there's no link to a page with the insert will someone give me an idea on how it's broken up (i.e. one track per chapter, several tracks per chapter, etc)? Thanks.
  13. Or are the tracks simply each chapter? Thanks for any insight. :001_smile:
  14. I am planning on buying this CD later this Summer (using it as a supplement to Usborne). I am having the hardest time finding a site with a picture of the insert or layout of each track. Anyone have a link showing the tracks/insert? TIA!
  15. Continuing to bump... This looks great MINUS the factor that it is not laminated. That is a big negative for me, personally.
  16. Yes, I am a liberal (politically) who happens to homeschool.
  17. :iagree: A webring would be pretty cool, for those who have blogs. I don't discuss politics on our blog but the sense of "family" is always nice.
  18. OK, thanks. I wasn't sure if HSBC would send an email for me. Thanks for letting me know.
