Maybe Unit Study is the wrong name for what I want. I do want to teach my child what happened but not something that will be in depth and a month long.

I think my request was pretty clear. Not sure the point is replying when you don't have anything to offer minus your opinion on what a bad idea it is to teach my child history from her country (which I do not agree with in the slightest but that's pretty obvious from my OP). With the 10 year anniversary coming up, I thought it would be a good time to discuss the tragedy with my then 6 year old. Are there any (secular) unit studies out there for that young age? Or a good, thorough (secular) book covering it? TIA! Edited to add: Unity Study might not be exactly what I am looking for. But, yes, I do want to teach her that this occurred. I would like her to learn about it from me and not via a newspaper clipping or something (she reads at a 5th grade or so level so this is very possible). I am looking for suggestions and not people's opinions on whether or not they think my child is able to handle this. As her parent, I'll be making that decision. Thanks for anyone offering actual suggestions.

As a Speech Therapist, I would only recommend it if it is impacting their communication and/or bothering them. Otherwise, I don't see the purpose.

Yes, same here. And I knew several kids who would be treated as above in the poem who became major addicts. Glad my childhood wasn't that poem.
