  1. Here are some tips: http://www.neoplexonline.com/dry-erase-marker-cleaning-removal-clothing/
  2. I found them and fell in love. I make my own detergent and have always used vinegar for rinse. I still use vinegar, but just throw in a few of these. DS smelled his sheets after the first load and said, "I'm in love!":tongue_smilie:
  3. I didn't watch it, but since I'm from ATL and Cain substitutes for Neal Boortz on occassion, I'm just proud that he is willing to get involved. Boortz was talking about the debate and wondered if Cain used the line he often uses on his talk show when referring to politics - "How's that working for you?" People were calling in saying it should be Cain's bumper sticker. :)
  4. I have that rod thingy too and just love how much stuff those little buckets can hold!
  5. We will be spending our afternoon at one of their gardens that is only 10 minutes from my house! Yippee!
  6. We use one similar to this - http://www.organizeit-online.com/p/1558/3tier-revolving-shoe-tree-bronze?osCsid=b17db1d1a5b1f832ff865b15f040cba0 I found mine at Wally World for like $15. While it isn't contained where the toddler can't get to it, it does have a handle on top that makes it very easy to move around, even fully loaded with shoes.
  7. Here is what you need to download to his Kindle: Free Children's Books and Young Adult Books for Kindle: Linked List of Over 1,000 Free Classics For Boys, Girls and Teens (Free Kindle eBooks) [Kindle Edition] - It costs 99 cents and is well worth every penny. You just type in the books into the Kindle Store and if you like what you see, download them. DS (5) reads on a Kindle and it has been a life-saver.
  8. We are interviewing piano teachers now, too. Can you send piano teacher #1 to ATL? She is exactly what we are looking for :001_smile:.
  9. I use A Reason for Spelling without the TE. DS loves it as it is set out in a very methodical manner and for the most part, each lesson follows the same outline. That being said, I bought the book for this coming year at the convention in SC. I almost gave the poor A Reason for............ vendor heart failure when I refused to buy the TE. I got the whole talk about how I wasn't getting the most use out of the book without the TE because I didn't have the special story that went with each list of words, etc. It got to the point of me saying that if they didn't want to sell me just the student book that I would buy it from Am@zon. They sold me the book. :D If you want all the scriptures and stories you need to get the TE. If you just want a strong spelling program, you can easily get by with just the student book.
  10. I used ETC and never used a TM. I didn't even know they were available . The teaching in the books is very simple and self-explanatory. My DS whizzed through the books, but I can see a child doing a couple of pages a day. Some days are much more conducive to doing two a day while others can stand on their own at one a day. I let my DS set the pace to some extent.
  11. I am also a retired teacher so I feel your pain.:001_smile: I run a regular school year calendar following our public school schedule (DH is a teacher.) For the summer, we spend an hour a day reviewing math, an hour a day free reading, and an hour a day for me to read aloud. Discovery Streaming is assigned and DS probably spends a couple hours a week on that site. Extra time may be spent on the computer with educational games approved by us. By doing those things, the dust doesn't really have time to settle too thickly.
  12. Oh, we love Zenni in this house. They are wonderful and have great customer service.
  13. Have you tried Lands End? They have a size chart with exact measurements so you can see if one would work for your DS.
  14. Lunch: homemade chicken fried rice Looking forward to today: Just being able to get some things done around the house (laundry, making laundry detergent, VBS registrations, etc.) Please pray for: my ability to get end of semester projects graded. DH teaches at the university and I am his grader. The problem is that he likes to hang onto things that need to be graded and then hand them to me at the last minute. As he was walking out the door this morning to his day job (teaches public high school), he sweetly smiled and said that the projects around my desk  (three boxes) needed to be graded by midnight. And yes, he teaches at the university tonight until 11:15 so I can't very well :boxing_smiley:. Hope everyone has a great day!
  15. DS is 5 and repeated them back easily. He was reading at 4 and reads fluently at an eighth grade level now.
  16. Just finished our second year. Where has the time gone?
  17. DS made a tie dye shirt at his Friday co-op last week. He will get it this Friday. Do I always need to wash that shirt separately or can it go in the dark or medium load?
  18. Strangest place we found one (still cannot get it out) was a book on CD that the CD player 'ate'. I looked and looked and then when putting in a music CD heard a strange rattle. Apparently, the CD player really liked that book (but my pocketbook sure didn't when I had to pay for it!)
  19. Ironically, DS learned about 9/11 just last week. We were discussing the difference between a statue and a bust and when I g@@gled the images, lo and behold, there were pictures of the towers in flames. DS doesn't let go of something that he wants to know about so I had to explain it to him. He became quite upset and couldn't understand why God couldn't change the heart of the terrorists. It made for a tough discussion. DH and I are going to discuss the events of yesterday tonight and decide how to tell DS. DS is quite aware that we are at war with different nations, but these are some tough issues for a five year old to wrap his brain around.
  20. Our whole house is tile (except the stairs) and I love it. I agree with the other posters about the negatives (hard, cold, things shatter, etc.), but the positives of knowing that accidents clean up easily (potty training, vomiting, etc.), lots of children running in and out without removing shoes ("Oh, gosh, I forgot!") and truly clean floors with no dust trapped anywhere will keep me loving my tile forever.
  21. :iagree: with this statement wholeheartedly. Also, since the narrations are just excerpts from books, it is difficult to be dropped into the middle of a story, understand what is happening, and then narrate.
