Anybody heard of K-12 Free Homeschool?
TCoppock replied to irizarry4's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
I will admit that when I started out I didn't know the difference and ended up paying for it. K12 free is not FREE and they will take your money and then refuse to return it. If you are tight on money you are better off utilizing your library. AO is a much better option for free curriculum and the content is far superior. -
"Free-Range Kids" Long post...
TCoppock replied to lionfamily1999's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I know I am OVER protective. When I was in high school a friend's brother was kidnapped, molested, and murdered and that left a lasting impression. This happened in a good neighborhood while he was walking home from his bus stop. (blocks away from his home) I know statisically my concerns aren't rational, but it doesn't change the fear.- 139 replies

In an attempt to find lost cost healthy food options for my family I ran across food stamp challenges. In these challenges they had a per person amount of money to spend on food. I know many of us on this site are trying to cut costs and thought this might be a fun way to do it. I am not sure exactly how we can do it. I thought maybe we can figure out an amount and then make a menu of what to serve based on what we purchased. My idea is to have a variety of low cost meals that we can share with one another. Is this a stupid idea? or something others might want to try?

Gasp and choke. College tuition...
TCoppock replied to Ria's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Yikes! With prices that high it would be cheaper to buy a home near to the college and have her stay with you. It is scary how expensive college is getting. -
How do you handle puppy love?
TCoppock replied to JudoMom's topic in General Education Discussion Board
This is about the same as my response. DS had a crush when he was in 1st grade and had his heart broke. I took the time to tell him that is why we are just friends with a person before we decide we want to get married, so we have time to get to know them really well. -
How late do you let your kids stay up?
TCoppock replied to Joy at Home's topic in General Education Discussion Board
DS is 9 and his bedtime is 8:30. Although that just means he is in his room for the the night not asleep. He is allowed to watch 1 movie or read a book until he falls asleep. He generally doesn't fall asleep until closer to 10 and sometimes later. -
No I don't think banks should be bailed out either.

I'm sorry but I have a really hard time feeling bad for those who bit off more than they could chew. I can't tell you haw many people in my area bought multiple houses in a hope to get rich quick and are now stuck with them. We also have a large number of people that were making just barely above minimum wage who bought $300,000 homes knowing good and well they couldn't afford it. I don't feel bad for greedy people. It is not the bank or governments fault these people didn't do their homework. No one is bailing me out if I purchase stock that suddenly loses value. Why should I have to bail out others for poor investments? Personally I don't own a home because I CAN'T AFFORD IT! Should the government or bank hand me a house? NO! We should not be punished because we are responsible and save for what we can afford. Sorry no sympathy is coming from me on this one. It is one of the few things that truely infuriates me. Americans need to wake up and start living within their means. We aren't all pop stars and shouldn't be out spending like we are.

When my debit card number was stolen all I had to do is go to the bank and report it. They printed out the last 3 months statements and had me highlight any fraudulent charges. After that they filled out the appropriate paperwork for and had me sign. I was refunded the money about two weeks later. I wouldn't worry about trying to call the company; let your bank handle it.

Yes, I meant SE3 and SE4 were VERY similar. -
Jumping from Shurley 3 to Shurley 5
TCoppock replied to FloridaMomTo5's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
I think the only new concept that was taugt was indirect objects. Honestly, it felt like more of a review of 3 then a new book. ETA: Forgot to add we skip the writing portion so that might be different. If you are using a seperate writing program you might be fine. -
I don't think teasing will be a problem. Actually, until you mention it I never would have associated the name with the male part.

You have a beautiful cat. DS was impressed when he saw the picture. We are dog people, so that says a lot.

I love shopping on Craigslist!!!!
TCoppock replied to JFSinIL's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Good find! I haven't found any good deals on Craigslist in my area. I do enjoy enjoy the hunt still. Freecycle seems to have a lot more to offer. -
I burst into laughter when I read this. I haven't read the other posts but you are not alone. I told DH not that long ago that I have become boring. (although he lovingly disagrees) I had quite the social life in my 20's which makes it incredible depressing. I think as we get into routines life becomes monotonous. I don't know if new panties is the answer but maybe you can find something to shake up your routine a little. Take a class at your local community college. Persue an old hobby. Just find something that works for you. Personally, all it takes it a day at the beach to reenergize me for awhile.

Wow! She's strong. I don't remember DS sitting that young.

Ummm, I'm not sure how to take your post... We shower daily in our home. If you are asking if we shower first thing in the morning though the answer is no. I don't see why you would assume we are all sitting around without ever showering though. Maybe I'm miss reading your post.

HELP! Broken ebay merch, now what?
TCoppock replied to Laura R (FL)'s topic in General Education Discussion Board
Not only would I dispute it through Paypal, but I would also leave appropriate feedback, especially for the rudeness. Lately, my experiences on Ebay have been less than perfect.
