  1. We have a chest freezer and shelving for canned/boxed goods in the garage. :)
  2. Sah-weet! :cheers2: We went to Florida for our honeymoon! LOVED it! Palmer/the valley is one of our favorite day trips. :D
  3. 6-7 AM Quiet time for an hour or so in the afternoons, when we're home. After the kids' bedtime - 8/8:30ish on.
  4. Mine really like peppermint/mint & apple cinnamon. :)
  5. Reviving this dusty old thread! We're in Anchorage, and using IDEA. :) Arcticmom, I grew up in Fairbanks and North Pole, off Mission Road! Right by the old, old radio station and across the street from SC House and the giant Santa Claus with the arm that fell off every winter -- does it still collapse under all the snow?! Sigh! I miss the interior. The northern lights... all the snow!
  6. A pretty awesome house in a really nice neighborhood, or a ton of land and a nice property further out.
  7. Soooooo unhealthy, but so yummy... I take hot dogs and cut them in forths. Thirds if they're short. You want them about 1" - 1&1/2" long. Then take bacon and cut it in thirds, or at least long enough slices to wrap the dogs with and fasten with toothpicks. Then bake at 400-425ish, starting with about 1 C brown sugar mixed in, and adding brown sugar to taste/caramelize. Oh man, they are SO good. I've never brought any home! Similar to http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Sweet-Bacon-Dogs/Detail.aspx , if you need a visual.
  8. Yeah that. Hugs, mama. Be gentle with yourself and your kiddos.
  9. Can you do/do you like avocados? The creamy texture and fat really help me.
  10. Ha! I did the same thing! I was all --- PAULA!!! Next thought - Oh, I shoulda KNOWN she'd be here! Hee! Rhymes with Banana or Donna or...? Banana here. :D Oooh, cool! We're in Southcentral, but I grew up in the interior - Fairbanks, North Pole, etc. Ohhh, I wasn't brave and together, no no... It was unexpected but perfect, if you kwim. Blissful. My midwife was sure shocked, though! I would go UC again, if we were to have another. :) So, do you birth at home? Mama of 7! You are BLESSED. :grouphug: Nice to "meetcha" here!
  11. I put my books in a poly mailer, then tape the PBS label on.
  12. I like these as a theme or motto: Job 34:4 Let us discern for ourselves what is right; let us learn together what is good. Proverbs 1:5 Let the wise listen and add to their learning... But the one I seem to use MOST often...: Philippians 2:14 Do everything without complaining or arguing
  13. And I'm really starting to dig this place! So I thought I'd say so and post a little intro. :001_smile: I'm Shanna, from Alaska. Pretty much born and bred, with short stints in NM and Germany as a teenager. I've been married to my awesome hubby for going on nine years, and we've been blessed with two sons and a daughter, ages 7, 4, and 2.5. Let's see... I'm a birth junkie and studying to become a childbirth educator and eventually move into doula work... perhaps even midwifery. My youngest was born at home, unassisted, into my hands. :D I love coffee a little too much. Diet Pepsi, too. I'm on day five of the South Beach diet, for the third or fourth time. Sigh. I really need to stick with it, but MAAAAN, I like carbs. Um, wow, I'm talking too much about food and drink, let's move on... I am a curriculum freak, and love to research things. To death. It's kinda sick, actually. I'd consider us eclectic. Charlotte Mason-y, classical-ish, relaxed. We're into camping, hiking, biking, long walks on the beach... ;) I love Jesus. I hate religion. :tongue_smilie: What else does one say in an intro... hrmmm... I'm 5'11", long brown hair, brown eyes... Heehee... Anyway! I like ellipses. ETA: I also really like smilies. I'm glad to be a part of this forum!
