  1. We have several in our town. The closest is about 3 blocks away. We're hoping to put one up in the spring. One of the Culver's here even has one. :)
  2. They just feel so good to wear! My feet are long & narrow...I can make thicker socks that actually fit my foot and help my shoes to fit better, too. One of my favorite pairs is made from a cotton & bamboo blend. :D
  3. My oldest sister & her husband live near Seattle. We were visiting them shortly after Russell Wilson was drafted. My BIL didn't know anything about him. We live in WI (he played for the Badgers his final year) and assured him that it was a good thing. ;) So...even though my beloved Packers weren't playing, I had someone to cheer for. :)
  4. My daughter has played Pathfinder a couple of times. She loved it and we're hoping that the group can continue meeting. It's a spin-off (or something...I don't know exactly) of D&D.
  5. I use this recipe a lot. It's been known to happen twice in a week. I like it because the dough only sits for 5 minutes. I'm not always good at planning ahead. ;) I make the dough and while it's sitting, I preheat the oven. After 5 minutes, I get the dough on the pan and add the toppings. Usually by the time I've got the pizzas ready, the oven is hot. A couple of things that I do differently from the recipe: I bake it at 450. I didn't like how it came out at 475...it's possible that my oven temp is not accurate. See what works for you. Also, I don't always have whole-wheat flour around, and just use all-purpose. I haven't tried using more whole-wheat/less all-purpose. Cheaper-than-Delivery Pizza
  6. Packer fan here...rooting for the Seahawks. Russell Wilson played for Wisconsin, so there's that, too. And my oldest sister lives in WA.
  7. We did the boiling water today at -20 and yesterday at -3. Worked great!
  8. We didn't touch it....we didn't want to take our mittens off. It's cold! (we added some red food coloring at someone's suggestion, but it didn't do much other than make my yard look like a crime scene) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aJKILI612Y
  9. We've been amusing ourselves by tossing boiling water outside. :D
  10. We have visited Portland the last two years. We enjoyed watching the Vaux's Swifts at Chapman Elementary School. http://audubonportland.org/local-birding/swiftwatch
  11. Dd & I enjoy the live classes, but they are FAST! You can watch the videos, as well. It's actually been good for her, though, to keep up and stay focused. We're having a blast.
  12. Frisbee, ball, hacky sack, etc. to play with during stops.
  13. I would think that he'd get too warm in school wearing long underwear....and it would be a pain to change in and out of them otherwise. Don't know where you are, but here it's snow pants and a warm jacket when going out to play.
  14. Probably not quite what you're looking for, but fun & it does stick. http://www.youtube.com/user/historyteachers/videos
  15. This is a great "learn to knit" book for kids (and adults). "Kids Knitting" by Melanie Falick.
  16. Wow. We just got back from trick or treating in the dorms at the college down the street. They had a decorating contest on each floor. One of them had drawings hanging on each door. Dd was looking at them and pointed at one and said "Cool! Medusa!" (and it wasn't even a great drawing LOL)
  17. I married my guitar teacher. ;) I started playing at 24. I had a friend who played who was looking for a new guitar. While at the library one day, I saw an ad on the bulletin board: GUITARS FOR SALE. I grabbed the number and a few days later we went to see what this guy had available. He had about a dozen used guitars in his apartment. My friend didn't end up buying one, but I signed up for lessons. We became friends. Eventually, he was doing repairs in a music store that I was working at. We were hanging out a lot. Finally, my boss asked when we were going to start dating. LOL We've known each other for over 20 years, now and in Dec. will be married for 16. Yay for libraries!
  18. Thanks! It's my new favorite pattern - "Everything But the Kitchen Sink Hat". ;)
  19. Still working on my cardigan. Back and left front are done. I need to mark where I want the buttons before I start the right front. The brimmed earflap hat for dd (in Gryffindor colors) is almost done. I'll post a pic when it is. There should be enough yarn left to make matching lined mittens, as well.
  20. I'm almost done with the back of the sweater. For whatever reason, I couldn't get this photo rotated. The lines should be horizontal, with the "bumpier" part towards the bottom.
