  1. 1. Yes you can. When you go to change header, there is a section for Blog description. You can just type it in there and it appears in the header box. Check my blog to see if that is the similar idea to what you are looking for. 2. They call them pages instead of tabs on blogger so you may have missed them. Click on new post, up above the new post box there is a few tabs for various things. One says pages and you can change, add and edit them by clicking there. Their location can be changed in the edit layout section. Just move the box marked pages to where you want them. Hope that helps and wasn't too confusing. :001_smile:
  2. We've had a subscription for 3 years so far and we love it! The subscription opens the doors to a lot more too. I have another dd who won't need it for 4-5 years as well but it's not a concern or factor for me. Even though I only have one child using the subscription, I still consider it worth it.
  3. I don't know what your long term plans are, but some things that we did last year for grade 1 that I couldn't see in your plans were Writing with Ease Level 1, History, Geography and a foreign language. We are finishing up Singapore 1B right now too before going into 2A. We had to stop for a while at the end of last year and worked on Math Mammoth to focus on some trouble areas. Over the summer we picked 1B up again and it seems to be working better now.
  4. You know your on Facebook too much when you look for the Like button. :tongue_smilie: I'll just have to stick with the :iagree:. I know a transgendered child and I agree with you 100%.
  5. I came across a book called Champlain's Dream when I have been researching Canadian history resources. It's a biography, it's long and I heard it's really, really, good.
  6. My dh is a goldsmith, he charged $20 to size down more to size up, the price depending how much larger it needed to be. $100 is ridiculous.
  7. I did a blog post about this last week but my list was longer, so I cut and paste and then deleted some that may offend. ;) 1. I fry my spaghetti. Heat up a frying pan, put in cooked noodles and pour over the sauce. Mix and cook until all sauce bakes onto the noodles. It tastes so much better. I've even converted my husband. 2. I have had a crush on Jared Leto since I was 14 and he was on My So Called Life. I am not fickle with my celebrity crushes, so when an opportunity came up where I could potentially meet him I declined. What if I met him and was disappointed? That would be like 18 years of my life wasted. Who would I crush on after that? 3. If I stare blankly at you during a conversation, than it usually means you have said something stupid and I am giving you time to save yourself. 4. I eat food that falls on the floor. The five second rule applies to everything except what falls beside the stove. It's scary there. True story. On my husbands and my second or third date we went to a Thai restaurant. We each had a main course and split an order of Pad Thai. So when I was trying to maneuver the noodles from the dish to my plate I dropped 95% of them on the table. Without thinking I scooped them all from the table to my plate with intent to eat them. I had a moment of "Oh sh**, maybe I shouldn't have done that." and then I shrugged and figured if that turns him off then I have no hope when he really gets to know me. It turns out he liked the fact I did that.........(or so he says). 5. I don't understand abstract art, it frustrates me. I just can't see it as art. Can a 5 year old paint like Caravaggio? Not likely. 6. I don't like clowns or Santa, they make me uncomfortable. I also don't like crocs. 7. I am a cup half empty kind of person. The eternal pessimist. The upside? I never expect anything to work out so if it does I am genuinely surprised and thankful. 8. I play the lottery weekly because if I don't, then you know my numbers will be drawn next week. This goes back to the pessimist/cup half empty thing. 9. I love McDonald's, it's yummy and has the best coke. It honestly doesn't bother me that someone experimentally left a McDonald's burger out for 3 months and it still looked the same. 10. I've never had sushi/seafood but I avoid it like the plague. Lobsters are the cockroach of the sea. 11. I've worn glasses since I was three and contacts since I was 14. My eye sight still sucks and I am considered legally blind without them.
  8. Newly 8 month Merle modelling her new fall/winter headwear.....although she was slightly uncooperative. :001_smile:
  9. I remember.:001_smile: Last time I mentioned about a possible move to Toronto. Everything seems to be heading into that direction with everything finally falling into place. I am hoping sooner rather than later.
  10. We are just getting ready to start 2nd grade with dd6 (soon 7) and I have been thinking a lot about what I am going to do for Canadian history. I was thinking of introducing it into 3rd or 4th grade but had no idea where to start. I do know that I want it to be way better than how it was taught to me when I was a kid. It was so dry and boring. I want something more SOTW, focused on a child's mind so that she doesn't see Canadian history as boring as I did. To this day I find the Canadian history quite uninteresting which is unfortunate. I would also like to be able to do it without having to buy a million books to gather a little information here and there.
  11. Nope, because you never know what a person's story is. You can really miss out on some extremely interesting people that way anyway.
  12. Much cuter than a dh who puked in your boots. :glare: He still owes me a new pair.........and the dh doesn't stand for a nice endearment in this instance.
  13. I just wanted to thank you Dawn. I made my own study last year and had the same intention for this year but I had a baby in December. I swear, I have no idea what happened to all the time I thought I had before school officially starts again. I lost a few months somewhere.:001_huh: I was starting to panic when I came across your post. It's awesome, your awesome. Thanks so much!
  14. That would be why then.:) I've lived in every province from Ontario to the west coast but I have never been down east.
  15. I'm agree on all the above but I have never heard anyone pronounce garAHJes as garAJes here. :)
  16. My dh and I have this disagreement often. He is a recovering addict and calls it a disease. I call it a really selfish choice he made that went really, really bad.
  17. Yep, they're awesome. Also on my favourites shelf. 1. Darkfever 2. Bloodfever 3. Faefever 4. Dreamfever 5. Shadowfever
  18. Love those both! They are lined up on my "favourites" section on my book shelves. Karen Marie Moning's urban fantasy Fever series is fantastic. The series is now completed so there is no horrendous waiting for more books after cliff hangers.
  19. Haha! The book I just finished was Hit List by Laurel K. Hamilton The book I am currently reading is (for my bookclub): The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I'm looking forward to the movie also. The book I plan to read next is: A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin Apparently we have similar tastes. ;)
  20. DD6 votes for purple. She likes pink too ;) but purple is the winner. She even has purple glasses.
  21. Better late than never;) I just realized how late it is too, off to bed!
