  1. Hi There, I'm looking for a Playdough/Fun Dough Recipe without salt. Does anyone have one? I'd also like to color it naturally. Ideas?? Thanks!! :)
  2. I'm planning on using either my husband or tutors that offer tutoring with Singapore Math for my son. I'm really scared to mess my son up; he's destined to do something that uses at least a high level of math and perhaps Science, too. I plan on him going through Singapore and then some kind of math like NEM? I saw that there's tutoring for different Singapore Math.... I think I saw about $10.00 an hr.
  3. Thanks! :) I want it to work like the highschool level, as that's what we need :) Also, for us, the children are moving up by grade, not "in a family unit" so.... we need them to do this for when the child is in the right grade:) We are doing SOTW for the kids who are younger :)
  4. I see, well lamb heart is pretty small :) and kidneys of lamb are like little mozzarella balls.... so... perfect. For us, it's one of the parts that I can afford for our dog; here they are .99 a pound :) (at the meat market)
  5. (We're in Salem,OR, but have people driving from about a 45 minute radius) MFW Co-op with SOTW for the younger years, Who's doing Co-ops?? We are doing SOTW for grades 1st-6th, 7th and 8th years are American History and 9th starts AHL. We're in the Salem area, and would love to have anyone around here join us. Our parent meetings start in August. Also, I would LOVE to hear from those involved with Co-ops, especially using similar or the same material. SOTW is our favorite for the younger years, and MFW is what we're using for HS because of it's independent aspect. We will be doing the discussion day together in class. We have nursery and preschool, so that's great, too. We hope to have a class for each grade, as the years progress. Eventually, I wouldn't mind having a two day a week co-op, but that may or may not be what others want. I have thought about having them independent of each other, so people can come to the day they want. (Perhaps work on writing and living math on the other days... with some other subjects??) I have a social group on here for Directors, and am also happy to speak with anyone by email :) :)
  6. And, if you get it, the kidney and heart make great food for dogs :)
  7. Good Idea!! :) I love natural ideas. We did antibiotics for my son, right away, and it helped a lot. But I always like natural...
  8. If you get antibiotics, especially right away, it doesn't take long. If you don't know what it is, like us with one of our girls, it can take forever it seems. :(
  9. There are in some of the older primers. You can check spots like the Gutenberg sites :)
  10. About $5.00 or so for a gallon of organic. About $5.00 for a lb of butter (4 sticks)
  11. I have always thought that the lady I read about who made "occasion" tapes for her kids was sweet and wise. She did birthdays, first boyfriend/girlfriend, graduation, etc... Stories of her childhood... and more. What a treasure they must be! :)
  12. :iagree: This might be the place he was hired from. I think it was ;)
  13. Maybe this is a bit rough? Perhaps you could get his opinion, too? I got to name my son, but I did ask :) And, I didn't have 4...... Elmo might not be it, but does he have a middle name? Or a combo of that and something else? I know twins who are Olivia and Sophia; I think it's nice when they are "different" and yet go nicely together. Kinda like... Timothy and Thomas, or maybe Christian and Corban. Cory is a nice name, but I kinda think of it as a nickname for a boy...Course, don't know what it could be short for except for Corban?? Christian Elliott and Corban Edward? :)
  14. I looked for some jobs for my husband when he was looking. Seemed to be easy enough to get started, with just knowing what type of engineering your husband could do. Sorry that I can't remember which sites, but I just went google crazy, as did he. :)
  15. Have you been doing the Pencil Flip? (it's in the teacher's book for HWOT) IF you do this, does he still hold the pencil incorrectly? Just a thought ;)
  16. My son had friends at the last co-op I put together, and seriously, it's just a "play while you're there". It's been since maybe April, and no one has gotten together with us... and no one will. Not even the person who lives 7 minutes away; seriously, sometimes I want to go crawl in a cave:( But, I try to think, "chin up" things will work out better, next time.
  17. Very sweet, I'd be happy if my son wrote a poem like that :)
  18. I remember you talking about that camping trip, before!! I'm jealous! Are you going to a Veritas Conference?? I would have LOVED to go, but didn't hear about it this year. Maybe next...
  19. What about the kids at CC? Challenge is a place to maybe pull from?? Some of them might welcome some extra money. Chores can be real or made to feel real. The stones were moved "so the cows could eat grass" :)
  20. My friend has her kids run round the house; as long as it's not too hot, that works. Don't know if you were looking for "punishment" ideas :) Also, there's also the option of taking them into the Firehouse, for a talk from the fireman... and then... maybe juvi to show them "what's up" if they have to talk with the law. I would also explain that I'd let them start fires, if they can go for x amount of time being good. I think that every little boy wants to start fires, it's starting them at the right time... in the right place. You guys camp, right? Then they were kinda... "acting like dad".... just not at the right time :tongue_smilie: Maybe some chores given by dad... to be checked when he gets home? My cousins had to move all the stones from one side of the field to the other... and stuff like that... because even though they lived on a farm... their parents didn't think they had enough work :)
  21. Can you get a teen to come over (preferably a boy) and play with them? Chores at night with dad? My husband has worked one of our kids hard, because that particular child needs hard, physical work. I think at 9 that he's old enough to have dad get involved with "making life easier" during the day, and also.... you just need sleep!!! ;) Maybe 2 or 3 days a week, can you get a teen? I exclusively nursed, except for a few times when I left rice milk for my son.... my husband would give me a "night of sleep". Helps that I introduced bottles at the hospital, because I had to regulate my milk. (I immediately make too much, and didn't want an infection like the first time round) Of course, you could have a rewards system for Saturdays... for children who behave :) Sometimes I miss that my 8 year old has no siblings... but I know that siblings make some things harder :( Think of when they get bigger, though!! ;)
  22. Katya or Katja is cool ;) I wanted Caitlyn Grace and I was going to call her Caite Grace :)
  23. Chiropractor, Acupuncture? and also "blow dry" your ear on low. I would ask what Chinese Herbs etc... I could safely take while pregnant :) Good Luck!
