  1. Oh my Rebecca....that would be Just TOO Much. It's not what your children do, it's how you respond. Right?? You're calm and a bit apologetic. I don't care if the child was 2 or 10, what does "spanking/whipping" a child do for a little bitty that has an accident. Wonder how that Mom is gonna feel when they're old and having accidents? Carrie:-)
  2. That's too bad. That's also not smart about the dog food, right? I wish the bear would be shot or relocated. It could have been a small child! Really sorry about your dog! Carrie
  3. SO, just curious, what did it look like?? Ours will be a crazy fun loving chaotic day:-) We do opening and then subjects with kids hopping around, clapping, singing, chanting, experiments...etc... Lunch...PE....and just plain fun! Carrie:-)
  4. Use the distilled water if making a solution. There are all kinds of recipes.... I usually used either wash cloths (white...) some had flannel on one side... And then I used disposable wipes, too:-) Unscented of course:-) Carrie
  5. Hi There, I'm wondering if anyone has a great song for Exodus 20. I'm looking for NKJV or an incredible song:-) You know, one that you can sing more than once:-) If you have a great 10 Commandments song, that's cool, too:-) Carrie:bigear:
  6. We like like them:-) My mom has them for my kids:-) Carrie:-)
  7. If you wanna try the Ergo http://myfavoritebabycarrier.com/ is the spot to go and they have a money back guarantee if you don't care for it. (I think it's 90 days) Carrie:-) PS, they don't often have used, but look on the site for used, too:-)
  8. I'm kinda doing LLC. We listen to SOTW on cds. :-) Have you figured out your cycles for a few years? You could do SOTW while young and move on to Famous Men.... My daughter is doing FMOR (Famous Men of Rome) in 6th and it works...we have to do the series kinda year round until 7th to kinda catch up. Carrie:-)
  9. And, should she look here, Some of us are in charge of Homeschool groups with children that are looking for tips on where to purchase helpful items from, as I am. I will be sure to let my families know of their service attitude/problems unless I see a resolution posted. Thank You, Carrie
  10. NO, not at all. But, it seems that many feel that the friendship should be dropped. I understand if she does that, and obviously, since I don't know her IRL it won't affect me at all. But, I know that if they can kinda "call" the family on it, that it may prove better in the end. For one thing, if they go to school together...they can't really avoid the family, and the OP poster's child may be the one ending up being the child that's left out in the end. (BD and other gatherings) Just a thought... no harm intended. Carrie:-)
  11. I'm gonna go the other way with this:-) Because she went wrong on the first toy thing, she went wrong on the second. I'd ask for coffee and try for one peacemaker's session. It'd be even more kind than just sending the card. It's not just all about us and our children and what's easiest:-) They need friends:-) and you could be it:-) A friendship restored can be a friendship worth gold:-) And, I'd have a rule about no toys given or borrowed from them, too:-) Carrie:-)
  12. I've thought of singing a Hymn each week in our Opening for Classical Conversations. I'm not sure if we'll do it, but I love the thought of Theologically Correct Hymns being passed down to my children:-) Carrie:-)
  13. Can't predict everything. Children die each day; when parents make a decision that's stupid, I have to feel for them. I've made stupid mistakes. I'm not sure jail is for these parents; have you seen the foster care system? They made a bad judgment call, they are already suffering. Carrie
  14. Ok, so...maybe I'm wrong, but does bacteria really grow under there very much if it's not pulled back?? The have to pull(kinda rip) back the skin to cut it off right? And, the tip is the most sensitive....including the sensations....(so later s*xual activity is affected, even though it may be minimal) I do know that in the Old Testament that there was some amount of f***skin removed, because there was a pile of it. But, there are different lengths that can be taken off, it can be used later if skin graphs ever are needed, for the child.... While I can't say it's inhumane because I know it is/was commanded by God, I don't think that it's necessary unless you believe you live under Jewish Covenant. If I were to do it, I'd have a pain med topically used, a specialist do it with whatever is considered the safest and least likely to accidentally slip make a mistake. I suppose that when my son is old enough to retract, his dad will have to show him how to clean it. I'll teach him to clean his ears out...and belly button:-)... his dad will have to teach the rest. I'm not sure how England and France ever get by with all of their wrong info on this subject... (along with other spots, but I'm not sure who else...) And, I'm sure I won't ask a an organization about an extra procedure for my son. Carrie:-)
  15. IF your son is good with it...cool. My parents changed mine for someone visiting the weekend I left. I didn't wanna leave and I was really sad at being kicked out. I had a hard time with it... But, if he's good with it....:-) Carrie
  16. You know, I adopted a dog from a humane society. It's an inside dog, he'll bark if the door is closed with no one outside with him. We fudged a bit on the fence thing, because we were redoing ours at the time. I walked him for ...no joke...three hours a day when I first got him. I took him to training when I first got him. He sleeps in our room in a crate.... I feed him good food.... He'd like to be outdoors more, if we were! We took him camping where he stayed tied to a tree during the day when we were out. I was amazed! He loved it.... (and went with us when we went around) It doesn't matter where a dog is...if they are with their family. (he didn't even chew his rope that we used to tie him!!) The point with it is.... he's a dog.... we're his family.... he stays with us or in his crate. BUT, its an individual thing, he would be best put to sleep if he couldn't be with people.... Carrie
  17. Here, you can look at some of the outlying areas and they'll let you adopt an outside dog. I would call what you're saying an "inside outside" dog. I would say that much of the day they'll be playing with your children and following them around, and that at night they'll be in a crate. Actually if they go further, in a crate inside is not hard...you can do it in one of their rooms...or in the utility.... That way they know that you're planning to spend lots of time with the dog, and dogs crated at night..... are usually fine:-) They don't want a neglected dog... And...when it's an inside/outside dog....it makes it so that they are less destrucive:-) which sounds like the dog you're talking about. Bored dogs are destructive dogs...dogs like to be with their pack:-) Carrie:-)
  18. http://www.thegreatbooks.com/history Above is a nice set of dates, that you can wade through to see if you want any..
  19. http://www.kanoe.us/ http://www.ambybaby.com/ My husband's ex swears by this...the kanoe hammock.... Carrie:-)
  20. From what you've said, Shurley Grammar 5 or 6...is there a placement test? with OMT for your reference, might be a good fit:-) Carrie
  21. Well, here's the deal, most would say that many events you think of as "Bible History" actually occured. I mean, you don't have to say "Creation" if you don't believe that the earth started because of God, but many events are just...recorded.... So, I would say that you should at least just think of the cards as a Historical. Anyway, for us, if I were secular...I'd buy the cards and pull any that I just couldn't handle... I don't think it's worth the hassle of making up your own. $65 is a great price!! We use the 6x9 lamination pouches from Oregonlam.com for laminating them and rings from Flyboys.com because I punch the cards on the bottom and "let them fall" when we practice them. The rings are nice because they don't "bite" the cards. Carrie:-)
  22. I'd suggest a very normal middle name, in case they want to use it later. I took care of a "Gertrude" and while at one time that might have been popular, it isn't now. She was kinda looked at like she was joking when she said her name, but her middle name was Alexandra, and so as an adult she had many choices. Carrie:-)
  23. I'd just say that we're gonna keep doing what we've been doing until we hit a brick wall. :-) We'll just keep learning with her till we can't.... and change the subjects. I try not to say my children are ahead or behind. They're just people learning and when I can't get them info fast enough, and I feel like a teacher with 20+ students can.... I'll give them back to a school. Carrie:-)
  24. I put it because on my yahoo groups you have to label it or people freak out and act like they wanna TP your house. Carrie:-)
