  1. Very confident it will be with content from a Christian Worldview, since Classical Conversations exists "To know God and make Him known." :)
  2. I think... the Gablers would be happy. Being from Texas... I'm happy with it... :)
  3. I think that's very kind!! Ten or so would be nice... but some either won't choose to.. or really won't be able to...so that's very nice!!
  4. Alaska has a deal for homeschoolers... Last time I heard... the family said $1500 for school per child AND it can be used for anything "educational" including things like water parks and ballet... Hmmmm :)
  5. and... I remember a thread on here about it... perhaps if you search for it. I mention this because there were tons of responses... If I remember correctly :)
  6. Thanks for the prayers! I've never had a job situation change... when it didn't change for the "better." My mom is so sweet; she lives about a mile from us and said that there's no reason that they couldn't move, too! My dad's job is portable and our ties are stronger than her ties to this community. Thank God for Parents who value our relationship!
  7. Hey There, We weren't expecting this... but in about two weeks... my husband's job is over. He's kinda like "fired" but they want the rest of his ideas. SO, they've offered 2-4 weeks to kinda "wrap it up" and then a bonus... it they're happy. Basically, he's scrambling for that "one job" that he hopes is out there! He has one interview that was already scheduled... He's a great guy!! A great Engineer..... (mechanical by schooling, and he's done design work for the last few years...) So... there's my "bummer" but I know that God is in control, and that all of this is temporary. Course, it would be nice to have another job, before our credit is ruined... :tongue_smilie: If anyone wants to pray... we could use some extra prayers...
  8. Wow... not for us!! Gotta be someone who can teach an 8 yr old that is less....
  9. As someone who remembers hard college days, perhaps watching some study dvds like "SuperStar Student" and reading "How to read a Book". I was also having difficulty seeing the board. Seems simple! My parents would have purchased contacts for me... but somehow I just didn't ask. Maybe go through WHY she would be having issues... and then letting her know that schools won't be excited to see poor grades when they look at hiring her... Good Luck!!
  10. And her children need love, too ...... It will be hard to pick up and go, for her... and try to refocus... How sweet of you all to think of this!!!
  11. I don't think you're creepy :) BUT, I would find another spot to nurse... have you seen the ... commercial of the mom nursing in the restroom... and it has something like "Would you eat here??" <It was Swedish or something?> :)
  12. My raging hungry 11 yr old.... wanted to eat at 6am this morning! I'd say.... give him an "out". Give him some breakfast foods to choose from.. including what you allow for "sweets".... (fruit, honey, etc.) Course... this comes from someone who keeps a stash in my filing cabinet of "sweets" from chocolate to dried fruits.... (I can't eat fresh) and.... my daughter has little stashes of things she's eaten.... that I find all over.... And I remember sneaking those little Wilson chocolates and stuffing them in my pajama legs with the feet on them.... sneaking them out of the legs... and watching Saturday cartoons... I didn't tell my mom till a couple of years ago. (Course... I wouldn't have dared to leave evidence... and I remember looking at the stash trying to figure out how much I could take without it being noticed...) I actually think that depriving me of the "choice" helped to make me sneakier... If I had been told "6 every Saturday" I probably would have obeyed because I was pretty much a compliant obeyer.... :)
  13. With an 11 yr old, an obedient 8 yr old is old enough I think.... :) (With directions.... Don't leave with anyone but me... if you need help, go to the cashier.... and a phone...)
  14. In Oregon, when we called... 10 to be left alone, 11 with siblings, 12 to babysit..... (But 5 to walk to school???, and never to be left in the car??????) :001_huh:
  15. It always amazes me that 5 yr olds can walk to school, but not left where <I> feel comfortable for 2 minutes when I grab something...... The Government does busy work instead of dealing with THEIR problems... (Kinda like me on here instead of doing laundry :)
  16. Wow! Congrats... same size as my first born... :)
  17. GoodWill and other spots have jogging strollers for sometimes... $20. Jogging strollers can fit bigger kids. My almost 7 year old could fit in one.... I'd have my son run for a bit... ride for a bit.... :) Good for you.. for exercizing. Another idea is go somewhere like a jogging track where you can jog around while your son rides in the middle.... :)
  18. Very Cool! Do you board dogs, too? If we ever come back to Minnesota again..... and you're around my husband's family... well... gosh your spot looks fun!! :)
  19. Don't have any... but Rhubarb Strawberry Crisp.... (with that Oatmeal butter brown sugar topping) is... well... incredible!! :)
  20. My husband says, "SHUT YOUR MOUTH!" or "SHUT UP" and I find it very offensive.... (to the kids, not me) He also says all the other naughty words we would never have dreamed to say... f*rt, booger, all that other stuff... We also didn't lick our fingers!! I like the way I learned to speak; I believe that it sounds crass and something else... ?? when you say all the naughties... but...well.. that's how I was raised... and how my mom was raised... :)
