  1. This is where she was, the place that released her into the wild. 😠
  2. Yeah, it’s unclear. It’s possible that my information is inaccurate. I would hope that’s the case! It’s also possible that my friend managed to somehow cancel the call…? Who knows. It’s a mess.
  3. Do you understand why that might be?? 😂 Surely Peter Pan of all people wants to avoid a hook for a hand!
  4. Pretty much, although there are still little neighborhoods where you can walk to everything you might need. IME, however, these are usually near the beach, thus more expensive. Neighborhoods where you can be without a car in Ft Lauderdale, last time I looked, were crazy $$$. Likewise Miami. That’s why I asked if the condo in question was in a retirement community. If I had to move to a new state where I knew no one and had to drive everywhere instead of being able to walk around my neighborhood making friends organically at the local store or café (or in a retirement community), I’d be lonely and despondent.
  5. Yes, that’s South Florida. Are you looking for a place in a retirement community? Because frankly that area is kinda boring and spread out, as is much of Florida. There’s only so many times you can go visit Butterfly World and walk around Fern Forest by yourself before getting bored and lonely. And a car is pretty much essential in that area unless you live in a retirement community that can shuttle you around.
  6. For clothing in particular, my grandmother always had beautiful, well-fitted items of very high quality. However, she had very few clothing items. She would accessorize, change things up, and she always looked elegant. Shoes would be repaired or dyed if necessary, but worn for years. I have never quite managed her elegance, and it’s a different age anyway, but I do try to follow her example in having very few things, but of good quality, that will last for years. This is much better for the environment than disposable clothing and shoes. Ultimately I’m sure it saves me money too.
  7. Wikipedia tells me there is a large population of Puerto Ricans in Buenaventura Lakes. Don’t have time to google for info on real estate. https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puertorriqueños_de_los_Estados_Unidos
  8. Sheila Maids are on clearance at Williams Sonoma right now. They are drying racks that lower for loading and then raise back up to the ceiling, out of the way, for drying. https://sheilamaid.com Good on you for thinking of how you can reduce your footprint! There are loads of small things we can all do to help the environment. Fly less (or not at all). Drive less. Eat less meat. Plant native trees and plants. Get rid of part or all of your lawn. Grow your own food. Support local farmers. Don’t use pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. Don’t buy bottled water or drinks. Don’t buy liquid shampoo, soap, or detergent. The list goes on…
  9. Poison kills birds (foxes, coyotes…) that eat the poisoned mice. Please don’t use poison. 😢
  10. It’s a best by date. If it doesn’t have an off smell you’re fine.
  11. Yes, they’re called tuna in Spanish. I usually just eat them as they are, but they make a nice drink too. (Non-alcoholic kind, although I’m sure it would be a nice base too. Anyway, just blend it with some water and sugar for a nice drink.) You could also make them into popsicles or an ice or slushy.
  12. Am I the only one who calls a small group of bananas a hand? I reserve “bunch” for a grouping of several hands.
  13. Yeah, but outdoor cats also kill birds and other wildlife and disrupt ecosystems. I’d rather kill mice humanely than risk all that. I am an animal lover, I don’t even eat meat, but I would certainly eliminate rodents in my house. They spread disease. And guaranteed if you see a couple running across your floor there are many more that you don’t see.
  14. None of them, because I don’t click on links from people who joined only hours ago. 🤨
  15. @Jean in Newcastle On an iPad or phone you just hold the letter down and other choices appear. Or add languages on the keyboard setting. For a computer keyboard, here’s a key: https://usefulshortcuts.com/alt-codes/accents-alt-codes.php And I’m sorry about your mom. 💕
  16. Hope you get some good answers soon, @WildflowerMom and feel better even sooner. Hugs.
  17. Well, it could be worse: they could be reading Beloved. 😜
  18. She said she is diabetic. She takes metformin. The ADA recommends statins to nearly all diabetics.
