  1. The experience my daughter and I have had with working is that the bosses want you at work regardless of whether you are sick or not. We've both been told to stay at work when we were vomiting even. They just said "there's the bathroom" and pointed.
  2. I don't care what the odds are when it comes to the health of my daughter. I wasn't going to take any chances she would catch something especially when it is totally preventable. I guess if that is a risk you are willing to take, then that is your decision. I feel bad for your child... especially if they do get something, but ...
  3. Yes, it is possible that the Pats cheated, but they haven't proven anything yet. However, several of the players on the Seahawks (Sherman included) tested positive for doing performance enhancing drugs and were let off on a technicality. The Seahawks were fined early this season for holding practices that weren't allowed. Pete Carroll was in all kinds of trouble for cheating when he coached at USC. I don't believe for one minute that Seattle isn't cheating at least as much as the Pats... maybe more.
  4. It bothers me when I go to the store and someone has their child in there and the child is coughing like crazy, has a runny nose, and is obviously ill ... I have a low immune system and really don't want to get sick... again. I understand there are times you have to go to the store (obviously I do), but I do think if there is any way possible for them to go to the store without the sick child, it would be better... not only for me, but for the miserable child who has to put up with their mother shopping for a long period of time.
  5. My question to people who say "my child isn't at risk of getting that disease"... how do you know that? Do you keep your child at home and never let them go anywhere and don't let anyone visit them just to make sure they don't come in contact with something they aren't vaccinated against? If you take them to the store with you, you have no idea who in the store has a disease your child could contract.
  6. We are all into football and none of us are planning on watching the game. I can't stand commercials, not even the ones played during the Super Bowl so I won't be watching those. Even some football fans I know aren't planning on watching the game today.
  7. That is true. It is also true that they ignore a lot of other penalties by them that they should be calling. The refs are careful to only call penalties on the Seahawks when they know it won't affect the outcome of the game. Sometimes it is just 5 yards for off sides or false start... or when the other team is going to decline the penalty anyway. Anyone who believes that the NFL refs don't play favorites is just kidding themselves or is a huge fan of a team that benefits from their partiality.
  8. And some people are so loyal to a team that they can't tell when they are getting help from the refs. I've watched ALL 32 teams play. Sorry, but I know what I'm talking about. Not very many people pay as close attention as I do to football. Most people just watch to see who is scoring and don't really watch the other aspects of the game.
  9. I don't understand it either. A lot of times you can't even tell what the child's name is supposed to be. I also don't understand people like a friend I went to college with who just made up names for her daughters. She has six children. The three boys have unique but real names and the three girls have names she just made up. They aren't even real names. I'm sure they have spent their entire lives hearing "what did you say your name is?" I would think that would drive them crazy.
  10. The refs don't call holding or pass interference on the Seahawks (especially in the NFC Championship games). It is very difficult, if not impossible, for a quarterback to get a ball to a receiver when the defender is interfering with him (holding his arms). There are rules that the refs are supposed to abide by, but don't when it comes to the Seahawks. I've been watching football since I was 6 years old and I pay very close attention to what is actually going on in the games.
  11. I just leave it out. My stomach seriously cannot handle onions. I don't cook with them at all. If it calls for them I just don't put them in.
  12. If the NFL really wanted the Pats to win then why did the refs help the Seahawks "beat" the Packers? I think this whole "ball deflated" thing is just another way for the NFL to distract the Pats in hopes that the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl.
  13. I'm amazed at how many people here honestly believe that a person can't be a Christian unless they go to church. My daughter and I didn't go to church for years because we couldn't find one that we both liked and didn't want to go alone. People for centuries were Christians when there were no churches close-by. I have to disagree that you can't be a Christian unless you go to church. It takes work to be a Christian either way, but it isn't impossible.
  14. I wish I could find someone like this. I've been single for 11 years now, but am not going to settle for just anyone. I'd even be happy with one friend I could talk to that is my equal intellectually. I don't know how to go about finding either so I just talk to my daughter and my mother.
  15. I've known several people who home-churched and not one of them became legalistic because of that. I think people might be legalistic to begin with, but I don't think home-churching is going to make one that way.
  16. I wouldn't buy a house from a realtor that came in dressed in jeans or like a slob.
  17. This is a tangent, but I feel the need to say it.... just because you don't agree with someone else's lifestyle, doesn't mean you are hateful. I have never treated anyone with anything but respect regardless of what they believe or how they choose to live their life.
  18. I know if I boycotted every business that doesn't uphold the beliefs that I do, I'd probably have no where left to shop. As a Christian I don't avoid certain stores unless they are blatantly adamant about being anti-Christian.
  19. My 26 year old daughter hasn't stopped moving since the day she was born. She is even in motion while she sleeps. She couldn't sleep in a bed without a guardrail on it until she was almost 10. Edited to add: She does still fall out of bed on occasion, but just gets back in. She can't have anything dangerous (sharp or hard) next to her bed when she sleeps.
  20. I 100% agree with this post. I couldn't have said it better, Cat.
  21. No, I wouldn't and I would like to know whatever happened to freedom of religion. If they were wearing a Satanist shirt, I'm guessing no one would have a problem with it.
  22. When my top sheet and pillow cases are particularly wrinkled I iron them. My mother and my daughter think I'm crazy. Are there any other crazy people out there? Please tell me I'm not alone.
  23. There are four teams left that could go to the Super Bowl. Which of these teams would you like to see go to and win the Super Bowl?
  24. Oddly enough, around here there are people who go out in public wearing pajamas. The first time I saw this was 12 years ago at the Post Office. There was a person probably in her early twenties standing in line with flannel pajamas and bunny slippers on. A few months ago we were at the library and the guy sitting across from us at the computer was wearing his pajamas and a bathrobe. Maybe Colorado is just weird this way. Somewhere along the way they didn't learn what was and wasn't appropriate to wear.
