  1. Yes. We had some a while back but got rid of them because we don't have a lot of room here. I wish we had kept them.
  2. And for clarification, yes, I have been married three times, but an not currently married nor do I plan to marry again in my lifetime.
  3. I find it interesting that you are talking about me like I'm not here or like I am a small child.
  4. I picked up a book at the library called On the Backroad to Heaven. It's about Hutterites, Amish, Mennonites, and Brethren. I have been trying to find my place in this world and feel very drawn to the Hutterite way of life. I dress similarly to them already and believe basically the same way they do. I was just curious if anyone knew how accepting they would be of an outsider joining one of their colonies. I haven't made a final decision yet (obviously). I just need to find a purpose to my life and there just isn't anyone like them anywhere near where I live. There is a Mennonite church in the city I live in, but they are very liberal.
  5. Yes, I would. I love encyclopedias and unlike a lot of people on here I don't care about being "politically correct". The old ones speak the truth and now everyone gets offended if you dare speak the truth.
  6. Does anyone live near any of their colonies? Has anyone had any interactions with them? Is anyone related to one?
  7. I still have a couple of black friends from high school and one that my daughter used to work with. I used to give him a ride home from work sometimes (so, yes, he is my friend as well).
  8. My orthopedic doctor who I've been seeing for my knees has ruled out anything directly dealing with the joints. He has ruled out rheumatoid arthritis. Now he thinks I may have fibromyalgia. He has told me to set up an appointment with my regular doctor. I'm going to do that tomorrow. One website said there is a blood test for this and one said there isn't. Does anyone know the correct answer? Is there anything else you can tell me about this? Thanks, Luanne
  9. I've been trying to figure out how I can pay for a violin. I've always wanted to play one. Thanks for the suggestion.
  10. I'm not looking for a job. I am looking more for a hobby. I get bored easily, but have little energy to do anything. I also can't sit for long periods of time or stand for long periods of time. I can lay forever, LOL!
  11. I did blood-work on Wednesday afternoon and haven't heard back from my doctor yet about what the results are.
  12. Have you tried Googling the information you want? I live in Fort Collins (north of the Denver area) so I really don't know what is available in that area.
  13. My mother asked me the other day what I am going to do with my life (my time) when I get over all the health issues I have been having ... especially if I can't go back to work. They did a blood test on me on Wednesday to try to find out if I have arthritis (throughout my entire body). I don't know if anything can be done about arthritis or not. I am still run down from the chemo and radiation I had last year. I also had sinus/deviated septum surgery on June 18 (of this year). I also have carpel tunnel from the 3.5 years I cashiered at Wal-Mart. Anyway ... the question I have is, what AM I going to do with my life (my time) IF I ever get over the health issues? .. or at least what can I do that doesn't require a large amount of energy that is worthwhile? FYI - I really like educational things.
  14. It is situations like these that make me really think that some people on this board think 10 year olds are adults. It is too bad that your children aren't allowed to be children because there is so much pressure from you for them to be adults. They are only children for a few years of their life. Why do you need to ruin that for them?
  15. I can totally relate to what you are saying. I've always been this way. My daughter has been able to direct me around since she was 6. Her father was the same way. I can get lost crossing the street.
  16. I find it interesting that people want politically correct books for their children rather than the truth of what actually happened during that time frame.
  17. I find it humorous that in this thread about silly things people argued with you about ... some people on here HAVE to find a way to argue about it as well. SHEESH!
  18. This isn't like the examples mentioned, but one of my ex-husbands started an argument with me at the grocery store over English muffins. He said he didn't want me or my daughter eating any of them because they were his. I said we could just get a bigger package then so we could all eat on them. He went into a rage and said "NO, the English muffins are only for me." I finally just walked away from him. My daughter hasn't eaten an English muffin since.
  19. My cousin's daughters are married to brothers.
  20. She said she thinks ONLY little children should trick or treat. I would not consider a 10 or 11 year old a little child.
  21. I disagree. There is nothing wrong with a 10 or 11 year old trick or treating.
  22. We did unplug it and remove it from the kitchen. Fortunately, my daughter and I have a microwave that we hadn't been using so we just put it where the other one was.
  23. My mother's microwave has started doing something really odd. When you open the door to put in or take out food the microwave starts running (with the door open). It stops when you close the door. Has anyone ever had this happen with a microwave before?
  24. Yes, ultimately he will have to learn to deal with stuff on his own, but not at the age of 7. I quite honestly don't know why you thought sending a child that young to sleep away camp was a good idea in the first place. I'm thinking you don't still see him as he is, which is a very young child still. He'll have plenty of time for older child stuff when he is older. He will also learn to deal with stuff on his own, but, why push it on a young child?
