  1. We have done a few lessons on Alef Press Biblical Hebrew. You can read it on my blog. We are really enjoying it.
  2. I just wanted to share that there is a new curriculum for teaching Biblical Hebrew that is made just for homeschoolers and created by a homeschooler. I will be doing a review over several months with it. You can go on my blog you can read the first post here. The curriculum is called Alef Press Biblical Hebrew Curriculum. Just a warning for those who are not interested in teaching Biblical Hebrew that is Christian based. It does reference Jesus thoughout. It teaches reading, writing, singing, and traditional Hebrew liturgy. After each lesson it has a video that teaches history of Israel or varies topics. It shows beautiful pictures of Israel and much more. The kit also includes a song CD that helps you sing some songs in Hebrew. Just wanted to share just incase anyone is interested. Renee
  3. I don't see why you couldn't use them up to high school. What is nice about Wondermaps is that you can add layers to the maps to customize them. The size of the maps are good. Its like looking at an atlas from a book. You can still see the details if you added that layer to the maps. As far as the cost is concerned-I think it is worth it. It has saved me lot of hours not searching online for the right map. You get updates when they fix errors or add things to the maps. I like the program. I agree it is a bit pricey but, my time at this point is more valuable. It has a lot of maps in the program. Hope that helps.
  4. I ordered my supplies from Rainbow Resources it was a lot cheaper.
  5. I just purchased this one a month ago and love it for what we do in our homeschool. I bought it here. It punches 10 sheets at a time and can bind up to 150 sheets. It runs around $89.
  6. I would help when you can-but not to often. Tell her you can't do it all the time. It seems like family and friends who don't homeschool think we have nothing to do. I don't think it would be worth the stress or the relationship problems it could cause with your sister. I did this with my brother-law for a year when I first started homeschooling. They would forget to pay me or didn't have enough to pay. I think it was only $150 month they paid me.(That was all they claimed to be able to afford and they were suppose to bring their kids own food and snacks) They always seem to have money for new expensive t.v.'s and other things. Then they stopped helping with food. Never picked up the kids on time and it got later and later. It was a mess and they took full advantage of it all. Just my advice since it sounds like a lot of stress trying to school your kids and get hers off to school on time.
  7. I am in Wichita and it was a little close when you can say the tornado was blocks away. We are all safe and no property damage. No one died in Wichita because of the early warnings. My kids got scared when we woke them up and told them to run downstairs to the tornado shelter.
  8. My son has eczema bad. We started using Omega 3-6-9 oil a few months ago and it has helped a lot. We buy it at a natural food store and it taste like a smoothie and doesn't have the after taste. The brand is Barleans. I am no longer seeing it from head to toe. My son's skin gets really bad in the spring and summer from seasonal allergies so it will be interesting to see how he fairs this season. The hot sun and when he sweats sets it off usually. The Omega oil has worked well in the winter months. Usually he is pretty bad off in the winter but worst in the spring/summer. So far I am happy with the results and haven't had to used prescriptions for his skin at all:001_smile:. I still smoother him with lotion from head to toe. (Cethpel) Fabric softener is horrible for his skin and the dermatologist said that is something he hears often. I like tea tree oil but he hated it because it stung to much on large break outs. Has anyone else tried the Omega oils? We are loving it so far.
  9. My daughter who's nickname is Bug loved it. She just wants to pin one in her entomology collection. I told her I wouldn't touch it even if we could. Thanks for sharing the post.
  10. I would second this program. "Let's Learn the Alef Bet: Reading Readiness Book for The Hebrew Primer," and YouTube is a great place to learn the Alef Bet.
  11. Thanks ladies its not even 6:00 AM and now I want my jar of Nutella- like now!
  12. At our annual Hanukkah party for the congregation we make several dips: Sour Cream Smoked salmon in cream cheese Roasted red pepper Salsa Apple sauce in different flavors Pineapple with cottage cheese I can't think of the other dips now but just about anything goes with latkes. We have used both fresh and frozen and I don't think I would prepare the batter the night before either.
  13. Having one child who has special needs. They thing it's great that I homeschool her because I can meet her needs one on one. The they alwasy ask:Do you send you son to public school? Oh you homeschool him also- I thought you would send him to school since he is normal and can do the work at a ps. Grrrrr!
  14. My daughter would of not done well with a chicken so we mummified Barbies. Here is the link on my blog. Maybe not as real but we had a blast doing it.
  15. Work with your 3year old first. After you have done something with him schedule in your dd to spend some time with her 2 or 3 X's week just with her. Your son sounds like my daughter. I have an 8 year old daughter(2nd grade) with lots of challenges and everything takes so long to accomplish. Last year I tried to do my daughter first-BIG MISTAKE-by the time I finished with her we had to go somewhere, eat, or it was nap time or something else. Or I was just too frustrated to think. This year I do school with my Pre-k first. He seems like he will be pretty independent so far and I hope it continues that way. We do maybe an hour together. Then we have subjects that we all do together science, history, art, read out loud, etc... I do give my 8 year old the work that she can do by herself. Which unfortunately is very far in between her even getting a few problems done. Some days she surprises me. Not often:D
  16. I haven't had a problem buying or selling yet. I have had one person who dragged with payment and I had others inline waiting. I gave her 24 hours but lost one person waiting for an answer. I get more nervous when it is over $20.00. This year I bought several items from one person for over $200.00 She just happened to have everything I needed. I was anxious until I got the books. She had good rating but, I was on pins and needles. Every dollar counts. I am grateful to buy from the boards. I buy both used and new. As far as E bay goes I never get what I bid on. I must need a crash course in bidding on E bay. I have tried several times. I need to move closer to someone who gives away books:D
  17. I was happy to have an answer knowing it wasn't just my imagination. My daughter looks normal on the outside-so we got a lot of grief from friends and specialist because they kept telling me she was okay. Which we knew it was more than what they were seeing. I kinda felt like-see I told you so! She had a stroke and they blamed it all on that. They found out that she has a deletion in her chromosome and is the only one that the geneticist know of. She also has MR, PDD-NOS, and SPD. Also, it made me see that this is something that we will have to deal with the rest of our lives. It won't go away. It made me sad for her. Not knowing what her future holds. I think knowing is a good thing. Its just the first few weeks when you find out that are the hardest. Then those horrible days it hits you.:grouphug:
  18. I don't have a front loader washer. I get them and they drive me crazy. Must just be the quality of the shirts? :glare:
  19. I feel for you and admire how brave you are to work around bees. I have to say to this day I freak out on bees. I freeze when one starts buzzing around me. When I was 6 or 7 I was at my Aunt's apple grove and I stepped on an apple that was next to a very active bee hive. Don't know if I killed a bee that set off the smell. I just remember screaming and running. I remember being in lots of pain for a day or two. Luckily I am not allergic to bees-just terrified of them. One got in the house last summer and my poor husband thought I turned into a nut case. I love honey! Maybe my therapy could be to actually have a bee hive-maybe it would cure me of my fear.:D
  20. Yuk-men should look like men and woman like woman. I am ok with woman wearing jeans-I sure love mine jeans. Just think I never have time to paint my nails anymore-sigh!
  21. :grouphug::grouphug: How horrible, so sorry. Praying for you. On the bright side-she has never called on you for homeschooling;) Or she hasn't figured that one out yet. I would be afraid to let my kids out in the front yard without out me!:grouphug::grouphug:
