Can I just pay for HGTV?

Basically, I want to watch certain shows not at the scheduled show time, but at the times I actually can.  Is there a way to do this?  I have tried the HGTV.com channel, but the commercials are really glitchy for me.  Lately, I've missed the end of a lot of shows because it's stuck on a commercial that keeps playing every time you want to return to the show.  I've looked into Sling, but it seems like you have to watch the show when it airs.  I can't do that.

Nope.  The stations are sold in packages.  The best they could do is a la carte the station "families," but the cable company isn't going to do that.  I had this conversation once when a cable telemarketer wanted to know what it would take to get me to buy TV service.  :D

Sling. We only watch Food Network and HGTV, and when we ditched cable a couple of years ago, it kinda sucked. But we picked up Sling last summer. I think the package with HGTV is $25 (rather than $20), a total of something like 30 channels. Not only can you watch more than a dozen HGTV shows on demand, you can also go through the last 2-3 days of shows and watch those anytime. Sling is a pain to navigate through our Roku (but most things are). For $25, totally worth it, imo. I haven't watched Netflix in months, now that I have Sling!

We just got Sling.  We are paying $40 a month because we added on a couple of their additional packages.  I now get pretty much all the channels I used to watch on cable plus I found a new one I really like.  Between Sling and our antenna I pretty much have all the tv I need.  We still do have Netflix but dd is mainly the one who watches shows on that.

If you're going to look into Sling you may want to look into Vue too.  DH says he wants to subscribe to Playstation Vue when college football season starts in a few weeks.  He looked into both & says Vue is a better value than Sling (apparently you don't need a playstation to subscribe, just Roku, Firestick, or similar).  Both have HGTV.  YMMV if you have no athletic-loving people in your home.
