Gordon Lightfoot passed away

I don't think this was posted yet. He was called Canada's iconic singer/songwriter. He paved the way for many Canadian artists to be noticed and taken seriously.

I watched a wonderful TV program yesterday where Gordon shared the journey of his life and music industry journey - which lasted far longer than I knew. He was still performing in his 60s and 70s. That program is called "If you could read my mind."

I learned that so many HUGE artists recorded Gordon's songs, such as Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Stompin' Tom Conners, Liza Minelli, Olivia Newton-John and Barbra Steisand.

It's hard to pick my favourite song of his, but three of my top 10 would have to be Carefree Highway, Rainy Day People and The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
