klmama
We love The Nativity Story. My dc have also seen The Toy That Saved Christmas (VeggieTales). Oh, and the goofy one with the boy and the BB gun, but I don't remember the name. I wouldn't have picked it, but Grandma had it on the TV when we were there. Help me make a list of must-see movies, and if you know if they are available in their entirety on YouTube. Thanks!!!!
Chris in VA
I really like It's a Wonderful Life, A Charlie Brown Christmas (not a movie, but still...), and Gift of the Magi (not the Marie Osmond one, the other one). I also like the part of the Jesus of Nazareth movie that deals with the nativity.
Garga
Scrooge. It's a version of the Christmas Carol by Dickens. Love it! White Christmas is one of my favorites.
newbie
Miracle on 34th St, Christmas in Connecticut and all the ones that Rankin/Bass made, they play them right now on ABC Family. Olive the Other Reindeer is one of my favs.
Rhonda in TX
I also love The Bishop's Wife (with Cary Grant) and The Christmas Story (the BB gun one you mentioned).
CactusPair
Difinitely the musical film Scrooge! We love that one. Also. a Muppet Chirstmas Carol and A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott. I also like Scrooge with Alistair Sim from the early 1950's that's in B&W. I like Polar Express and The House Without a Christmas Tree. Emmett Otter's Jug-Band Christmas was a hit last year. My grown bros. sill love it. I also recommend Miracle on 34th St, It's a Wonderful Life, Christmas in Connecticut, The Bishop's Wife, Shop Around the Corner, and Christmas Story, which is the one with the BB gun. Elf is good, but maybe too adult-themed??? I like all those clay animations with Rudolph and Santa, too, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I'll 2nd White Christmas and add Holiday Inn. I don't know anything about You-Tube, though. Sorry. Merry Christmas!! Edited December 15, 2008 by CactusPair
Happy
We are huge 'White Christmas' fans. It's just plain fun, especially if you watch it every year, so that everyone knows all the dialogue. We also love, love, love 'It's a Wonderful Life.'
Tree House Academy
Home Alone (the original) Polar Express A Christmas Carol/Scrooge (there is a Mickey Mouse Version for the littles) A Christmas Story ("goofy bb gun one" LOL which happens to be my all time favorite!) Rudolph Santa Claus is Coming to Town The Santa Clause I and II (and III) It's a Wonderful Life (I so hated this movie until I as old enough to appreciate it) How the Grinch Stole Christmas (both the Jim Carrey version - for older family members and the Cartoon version for even the little). Laurie4b
One that I don't think anyone has mentioned is "The Fourth Wise Man."
Karen in CO
A Christmas Story and Home Alone. We can't have Christmas here without Ralphie.
Aggie
We just watched The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey. I've definitely seen better made movies, but this one was wonderful!
Kari C in SC
A Christmas Story and Home Alone. We can't have Christmas here without Ralphie. Neither can we. I turn it on for the 24 hour marathon every year. By the end of 24 hours of it, I have usually gotten the whole thing in. It just wouldn't be Christmas without that on in the background. I love it. Soph the vet
Has anyone seen Elf? My BIL wants to bring it over on Christmas Eve. Is it OK for younger kids?
