Economy car for tall person?

My dad is pretty tall (6'4") and needs to replace an aging Buick Rendevous. He doesn't drive a lot, so used better car or new economy, anything could work. I think the Rendevous is considered a crossover. Would a sedan fit him well or should we stick with a crossover? He's saying budget is $25k and I think it could reasonably be half that for how little he drives.

Any suggestions?

A compact/economy would be a tight-but-doable fit, I think. If you look at the Fords, the focus and fiesta might be too small, but I think the taurus might be too much for what he needs, so a fusion is in the middle, size-wise.

The buick looks big, to me. It says it is a mid-size CUV. I think they make smaller ones now that should still be big enough.

How is his height distributed? Long torso or long legs or about even? My 6’3†friend has long legs so he would test drive a few cars and see which ones he can push the driver seat all the way back and don’t feel cramp. Another tall friend needs the higher headroom and the leg room as he keeps bumping his head in sedans. I forgot what he drives but he had a really hard time finding a good fit.

DH is 6'3" and long in the torso.  Fords always seem to have the best head room for him.

ETA:  And, yes, we always buy to fit him even when we might like another vehicle generally better since he's our long-distance driver.

ETA2:  We had a Ford Escort for years, and he had to lean the car seat back quite a bit, but he fit.  I called it his clown car.  :smilielol5:  He kinda folded out of it.  Good times...

My son is 6'4 and his Prius is a good fit.

Well that explains why he keeps mentioning pickup trucks! Yes, he's a lot of torso. Inseam is long too, but not crazy long. We drove a Nissan Altima rental car this week and he was very cramped, even with the front seat all the way back.

I can see why you're suggesting the Ford Focus! And thanks for the terms on the crossovers. I found some lists on compact SUVs, etc., which I think is getting me on-track.

I've seen the Kia Soul, and I agree it's a lot of car for the money! I was really impressed by the spaciousness inside.

Thanks ladies, I'm feeling a little more on-track here. :)
