DawnM
One of my kids wants one for Christmas. And by kid, I mean 18 years old. He plays guitar (not great, but enjoys it), but he wants a Ukulele to play for fun. I don't want a professional model but I don't want a young kid starter model either. Something he can enjoy for several years without needing to upgrade immediately. Maybe I am overthinking this, but anyone have suggestions? I am thinking around the $50-$80 range. klmama
What size do you want? Soprano? Concert? Tenor? Luna ukuleles are reasonably priced and most have decent sound. Here's a concert one with a gig bag: https://www.amazon.com/Guitars-UKETCMAH-Concert-Mahogany-Ukulele/dp/B003L7VQMA/ref=sr_1_4?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1511898221&sr=1-4&keywords=luna+ukulele Regardless of what kind you get, read reviews and compare prices at Amazon and Guitar Center, etc.

Starr
We bought ds his at a nice music store. It cost more but he loves the sound. As time went on he was given a couple more so he has run around ukes too.
SebastianCat
My DD has a Cordoba concert ukulele that has a beautiful sound. I would go to a music store like Sam Ash or Guitar Center and ask the salesperson to play several different models. Cordoba, Kala, and Luna are all good brands to look for.
bibiche
Good info on the Ukelele Underground forum. This thread might prove especially helpful. Edited November 29, 2017 by bibiche
PrincessMommy
I bought this one for college dd last Christmas. She liked having the box for transporting it to and from school. She has never played guitar but I've heard her practicing from time to time during break. Your son may improve faster since he has some experience on a guitar. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F543PAW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=
