Amy in NH
Anyone know anything about this? I could swear I saw a thread here about it in the past 15 years, but I couldn't find it on a google search.
Carol in Cal.
I don't think it's around anymore, but a lot of the same ideas are in a program called 'Landmark Forum'. Everyone I know who has been to that swears by it but I have not been personally. It is kind of philosophical from what I have been able to gather. Ways to reframe life so that it works better emotionally. Not a religion, supposedly compatible with many faiths, and separate from them.
Ms Brooks
Why do you want to know about EST? It was started in the 1970s. It was a blend different philosophical ideas. Mostly, it was a business and not altruistic.
Starr
And my weird memory is the stories of how you weren't allowed up to use the bathroom until it was official bathroom break.

Joules
Are you watching "The Americans" TV show? I haven't thought about it at all until it came up in the show.
Chris in VA
John Denver used to be into it. Squicky, to me.
Amy in NH
I am writing a short paper about "not knowing what you don't know" and est came up in a questionable reference.
Allearia
I also know about this only from The Americans TV show. I had not heard of it before.
Farrar
I knew it was real but I knew very little about it. I'm a bit obsessed with The Americans though.
OnTheBrink
My BFF from high school got involved with "The Forum" which was a new incarnation of EST in the '90's. She got out of it, but said it was pretty cult-like, but not religious.
Spy Car
The only EST you want to get involved with is: Roma in Italia est. Bill
