La Condessa
Your baby had a fever, but it was under control with ibuprofen, and you were ~85% sure it was a teething fever? If it makes a difference, you have long-standing plans to meet your best family friends midway between your location and theirs for their dd's birthday. You have the opportunity to see them about 2 times every 6 months.
zoobie
I'd call and explain and let her make the call. How high of a fever? My kids' teething is usually around 101, and their sick fevers are higher.
earthyfamily
First, figure out if baby would feel okay on such a drive. I would also let the other family know about the fever and let them decide if they are comfortable being around the baby with the slight chance of catching something.
JustEm
Let them decide. That is what we do in our family. I have a sibling I would have never trusted it to be just a teething fever and a sil I would have completely trusted so with one I'd cancel and the other I wouldn't have.
La Condessa
102.3 Ds is a little sluggish and doesn't want to be set down, but he's still smiley ETA:(But that's not really a good gauge because he is the happiest baby in the world. To the point that it's caused problems in the past, like when they wouldn't believe there was anything really wrong with him because he was laughing, and it took a month before they discovered he had pneumonia). La Condessa
Yeah, I'll call and ask them how they feel about it.
kewb
102, I would cancel. Since you know your baby better than me, I would also call friend and explain situation and see if they still wanted to get together.
SKL
I agree, call and let them decide. If I was the friend, I'd say bring her over (if she is OK to travel). But I might be in the minority.

That's high for a teething fever. I would probably not go b/c I'd be worried he was actually sick, especially as he doesn't show it like most kids. It sounds like a pretty long drive, and I'd hate to be far from home if he got worse.
Momof3littles
102 seems like too much for teething. I know people insist their babies got a fever with teething, but I think that has mostly been refuted in the medical literature. I'm not saying it never happens, but the medical literature has pretty much debunked it, even pointing out that while some physiciians still attribute fevers to teething, it really is unlikely. I would cancel or inform them that you aren't sure, she's running a 102, would they prefer to cancel?
Erica in OR
I know it would be a bummer, but could one of you stay home with the baby and the rest of the family go so it wouldn't be a complete cancel? It's always hard when it's a birthday, since it's more of a time-sensitive event. Erica in OR

SparklyUnicorn
I would cancel. Seems like a fairly high fever for teething.
trulycrabby
102.3? Cancel! Little guy is likely sick, not just teething.
