Younger dd walked into a door and gave herself a line of cuts on her face and now her eye, which never actually looked bruised before, now looks like she is wearing yellow eye shadow.   She also bruised her foot.   She was walking into her room from the kitchen late at night so it was dark (she never leaves her light on) and her eyes had adjusted to the light in the kitchen (which is basically on all night since the kids are awake), and she walked right into the door.

My family is ridiculous.

ETA:  Seriously?  A yellow eye booya?!?

Good morning!

Yay for braces?  Yay for saving moola!!

🎵 I've been to the bank in a van with no light, it felt good to get out of the rain.  🎵

Actually the van has one working headlight.  The other hasn't worked for months and then got smashed in the fenderbender.  I'm so tired of this vehicle.

I found shoes for dd25's wedding!  They have a solid block heel, are the perfect color, and have an adjustable strap so it fits my foot and they are comfortable.

The girls are almost done packing for their weekend campout.

We are bringing up the final items for the yard sale from the garage.  There is one item that needs a bolt and after searching the entire house I found exactly ONE bolt that was not the right size.  🙄

I need to make 2 phone calls and upload photos of vehicle damage to some link for the body shop.

Coffee!

Happy Friday that I thought was Saturday!

I'm still getting used to the three day weekends but I love them.   Starting in November I"ll be working every other Friday.

Had lunch with my brother today.  He's looking so old.  He's only two years older than me but looks so much older.  Not just that his hair is white but wrinkles too.

I'm 54.  My hair is still mostly brown with some strands of white.   I have fine lines by my eyes and slightly by my lips but that's it. Nothing too deep, mostly noticeable when I smile.  I see people like my brother that look so much older than me and I can't figure out if I look my age and they look old, or if they look their age and I look young.   I guess it really doesn't matter but I've been surprised a few times recently by how old people are.

Edpo.

I have experienced a shift in thinking. There's a particular curriculum I decided to use years ago because it's the best of the best. But it's also boring and we have put it off two years because it's boring. I've realized that I can't spend an entire year doing a boring curriculum just because it's the best because I'm afraid it will result in my children losing their love of writing. So we're going to continue with the second and third best because they love it. I keep thinking NEXT year we'll get more rigorous, this will be our last fun year, THEN we'll get serious. I think we're just not going to. Don't get me wrong, we are rigorous and we are doing a fabulous job, but I've realized the necessary balance is more on fun in the middle yeas as well, and probably the older years once we get there.

A love for the subject is more powerful than the perfect content or method.

Good morning!

I was up at dark o'clock, got the coffee started, and woke up a couple kids to help me get things outside for the yard sale.  I think everything is set up now and I'm sipping my coffee.  It's humid out and the mosquitos are saying hello.  I just realized that I need an exit strategy for anything that doesn't sell.  Svengo.  Goodwill is not far.  We can fit quite a bit in the van if we take out the back bench seat, though that is a major pain.

Coffee!

Good Morning!!!

COFFEE!!~D

Saturday!!!

I have a baby shower to go to in the morning and a wedding this afternoon. The baby shower is quite a drive away, so after it we will be stopping at the Lobby of Hobbies, since it is on the way home.

It may rain a little today. Certainly a very autumn-ish cool down for a couple of days, which will be nice. fortunately the wedding we are going to is in our church and the reception is in the fellowship hall. So no worries about keeping warm and dry.

Good Morning!

Happy Saturday!

Not being very productive so far.

I went to a wedding recently that was in an enclosed pavilion, but outside it was pouring!  The rain was so loud at times that it was hard to hear the ceremony.  But the couple is married and that's what counts.  I had a lovely time, even with the chilly rain. :)

I haven't had a yard sale in a long time.  But, the last time I did, I just said that everything was a quarter.  No haggling, some people paid more than I asked, and I sold more than I thought I would.  The rest of the stuff went right to goodwill without coming back into the house.

I looked it up and the Goodwill donation place that is a mile from my house is open until 8 tonight, so maybe we can get a bunch of stuff there.  I may eventually start selling everything for a quarter.

Better a curriculum used well, than a "better" curriculum not used at all.

Somebody bought the weight lifting bench/set!   We brought in more moola than expected but only sold maybe 1/3 of the stuff.  People were not much interested in games or puzzles.

The last hour or so I had a headache and felt kinda sick - probably from the heat.  Nevertheless, two of the kids helped me pack up all the remaining items in the backs of the cars and we took them to Goodwill and then I got ice cream at Kroger (BOGO Tillamook ice cream!) and now am at home vegging.  There's a church picnic tonight but I just don't have the gumption to do anything but sit here and have ice cream for dinner.

Good morning!

I have 13 minutes to get a morning greeting out, and then I'll turn into a pumpkin.

We went to early service and then came home and I had a bite of leftover French onion soup and then got a text to pick up the girls and then got home again and finished the soup and then dashed off to Goodwill where I found a pair of pants and three shirts for ds18.

The girls had a blast at their Viking-themed scout council jamboree.  They beat the boys at tug of war and won the canoe-decorating contest with the help of Gary, their dragon-head prow.  Apparently it was epic.  I can't wait to see the pictures.

Coffee!

I hate haggling. I’m a “the price is the price” sort of person.

Only one person asked me to come down on a price.  And I was fine with it.  One person asked me several times if a chair was really only $5.  She was super happy about that 😁

The Green Bean returns momentarily!

Susan would you share the shoes? DS24 is getting married in December and there is no way my heels will work for me all day.

Slache: I like your EdPo and everyone's responses. I needed that today.

I woke up early(ish) today because I figured if I stayed in bed as long as I wanted to, I would have trouble sleeping tonight and it's back to work tomorrow.

While dh has been watching sportsball, I've been setting up and printing math lessons and homework, figuring out flyers for up-coming activities, laundry.

I did take a walk on my river side path.  It's 1/4 mile one way and I did the round trip 4 times so I walked 2 miles.   It was nice along the river even though temperatures were in the 80's today.

I would love to live in a 55+ community. I read about a college student who accidentally moved into a 55+ community and had a fabulous time. It was quiet, she helped out, she had a constant stream of homemade baked goods and she was an expert at knitting by the time she graduated.

I did a quick google and it looks like both the towns on either side of me have senior centers offering stuff like bingo, pie and ice cream, trivia, book clubs.  The other has bingo and casino trips, and women's and men's clubs.  I get the feeling they may be more for dh age seniors and not 55 year old "seniors".

Neither is in my town and I figure they probably don't let my town people participate, like we aren't allowed to use their libraries.
