mathnerd
My DS just came out of a bout of virus/flu like episode. He spent his sick time playing with all his legos. Now that he is OK, I want to clean and sanitize his room and toys. I am stumped on how to clean the legos. Anyone tried to do it? Any ideas on how to disinfect/sanitize legos? Thanks. Whereneverever
I've thrown them in mesh bags and through the dishwasher. I buy lots of used Legos off eBay and garage sales and it works well to clean really gross ones.
Arcadia
I had soaked dirty Legos in the bath tub with diluted bleach and air dry them. It was a pail full so still manageable.
Spryte
I've thrown them in mesh bags and through the dishwasher. Erin
I've thrown them in mesh bags and through the dishwasher. I buy lots of used Legos off eBay and garage sales and it works well to clean really gross ones. This is what I do. I throw a LOT of different types of things in the dishwasher ;)
stripe
I have washed them in the clothes washer. I had too many to fit in a delicates bag, and it was messy. Not sure I recommend that. I have also done the bleachy water in the bathtub. I like buying used Lego pieces, can you tell?!
*Lulu*
I had soaked dirty Legos in the bath tub with diluted bleach and air dry them. It was a pail full so still manageable. I've done it this way in the past. I've also fogged with Lysol after an illness. How serious I get totally depends on how much I dread a repeat of the illness. Jann in TX
I've cleaned them dishwasher and in the tub. I think your basket would be fine in the tub-- but I'd drill a few drainage holes in the bottom. After a good soak (and scrub if needed) rinse and lay out on a towel to dry (knob side up). When my girls were little I purchased LOTS of Legos used (mostly from Ebay lots). First thing out of the box they were disinfected. My dd is 12 and this week she got out the huge container of Dulpo bricks and built a 'house' for our cat to sleep in. He acutally uses it! For some reason my girls always preferred Duplo to Lego... I think they were/are impatient! We do have another huge container of Lego bricks too... I'm saving them for when friends with littles come over (so there is something to play with) and (hopefully) someday my future grandkids.... ezrabean2005
Delicates bag (or a pillowcase tied shut) and run through the wash always works well for us.
ByGrace3
We buy lots of used Legos. We just put them in a bucket of water with bleach, rinse and dry on a towel. The dishwasher idea sounds intriguing but I would need more mesh bags... If I had to wash ALL our Legos, I would just spray with Lysol. elinnea
We use the mesh bag and dishwasher method most of the time but the bathtub work well too.
