  1. I should add to my above post since you were asking about people outside the U.S. as well. Dh is German and he had all his pulled as soon as they came in. He's in his 50's.
  2. My dentist didn't think they needed to be removed (while I was still on my parents' dental insurance). Two years later one got infected which I had to pay out of pocket. Then in my 30s another one got infected but fortunately we had dental insurance at that time. I personally think it is better to pull them at a younger age. The other problem that keeping them caused is crowding. My teeth were fine enough growing up that I didn't need braces. Having my wisdom teeth come in (and not enough space) caused all of my lower front teeth to become crowded/ crooked.
  3. DH and one of DS just got back on Sunday from two weeks with the in-laws in Germany. DH tested positive for Covid this morning- sore throat and fever. DS has tested negative so far as have the rest of us at home.
  4. I agree with prairiewindmomma regarding the dietician and the needs of endurance athletes. Unless the dietician is specialized in working with certain populations their recommendations are usually focused to the average person and therefore unhelpful. When one of my kids was newly diagnosed with an eating disorder they sent us to a regular dietician. Lovely lady and she had great suggestions but not appropriate for someone with an ED. When we finally were able to see a dietician that specialized in eating disorders we saw much more improvement. So in your case I would definitely check out her other physical stuff but also see if you can find a dietician that has experience with endurance athletes.
  5. I love this so much! Backpacking is something that I want to do but feel intimidated. Good for you for getting out there and doing it. The location looks beautiful.
  6. I think we must be from the same town as I know exactly what you're talking about. Our famous aroma is now from cannabis. Ha ha.
  7. I haven't been to any of mine and I don't plan on going to any in the future. Our reunion committee always picks out the seediest venues but charges $$$. My close friends who I still meet up with gave me a hard time for not going to the last one but I felt quite justified in my decision when they then reported back that the food was terrible, the "popular" group who are now all middle aged were still getting drunk in the bathroom and the music was so loud that they couldn't carry on conversations.
  8. I think this is a really hard question to answer because everyone's experience will be different. As with moving anywhere it sort of depends on how open minded and adaptable you are. My husband is German and I lived there for about 12 years but I think there are differences when you are married to someone from the cultural vs. being sent there for work.
  9. When we were building I wanted to get white oak but dh insisted on bamboo and finally convinced me because of all the good reviews. There must be various types of bamboo because ours is horrible. We don't wear shoes in the house but there are so many spots where it is horribly scratched and dented especially in the kitchen. I get so mad about it on an almost weekly basis whenever I am mopping or vacuuming. Really regret not insisting on the white oak.
  10. So if you do not feel cherished what can you do about it? I grew up in a household where my parents always did little helpful acts of service and this is how I show love as well. I thought this was "normal". My spouse likes it when I do things for him but he doesn't really reciprocate. I have tried talking to him about it but he gets annoyed and makes it sound like I am needy.
  11. I hope you will have better luck with Miele than we have had. German husband insisted on all Miele products and I've lost track how many times we've had them out to repair various appliances. Unless you live in a large metro area back East it takes a couple of weeks to get an appointment, then parts need to be ordered from Germany.
  12. Don't get bamboo. Dh insisted on bamboo and I absolutely hate it. It scratches very easily and because it is so light it looks dirty all the time. Seriously, I am constantly moping and sweeping and it looks good for maybe 30 seconds.
  13. I used to like fireworks but the renters next door changed my mind. They don't start lighting them until around 10:30 p.m. and then they keep going until 2 a.m. or later. These aren't "pretty" fireworks but just the illegal ones that make loud noises so that no one can sleep. Talking to them doesn't help, our yard is littered with rocket debris the next day because they fire them at our house. Sheriff won't do anything about it. Like someone else said I don't mind the public ones because they are usually on water here and there is a start and stop time. A total ban on private fireworks would be fantastic imo.
  14. My dd has this out of tune lap harp and I let her give "concerts" for anyone foolish enough to call my house, particularly around dinnertime. The German thing works too.
