jenslp
You can view info and sample pages on z-twist books. I already ordered mine :) It looks like a full year of high school level chemistry and would just need a lab added like the Home Scientist chem lab kit or something.
CrunchyGirl
Fingers in my ears as I run away screaming... Ugh. Another Fred book LegoMan will no doubt require.

SoCalLynn
This looks great. I've been so intimidated by chemistry that I put it off until next year. I am seriously considering this now. Thank you for the information!
Arch at Home
Dd will love this. If only he had a high school physic book...
Slache
Dd will love this. If only he had a high school physic book... He's a math teacher. It'll be out soon. I think I need this one for myself now though.
Mom22ns
Oh sure. Just when I am 95% sure of what we are doing for Chemistry this year. Somehow I have a feeling I'm going to end up buying this book, whether I need it or not. :001_rolleyes:
Luckymama
I wish a meaty chapter (or even parts of one) was available for viewing.

Maybe as summer reading after your formal Chemistry year as review? I know people who use the math books that way.
JanetC
I wish a meaty chapter (or even parts of one) was available for viewing. And that the Fred catalog had good scope and sequence information as well.

Dicentra
I find it odd that he covers equilibrium from a mathematical standpoint (or, at least, I think he does based on chapter descriptions) but doesn't seem to cover kinetics at all. The mathematical treatment of equilibrium is inherently based on the concepts of kinetics. But, then, I have seen other chem curricula and texts do that same thing. :) Dr. Schmidt just seems so thorough - I was surprised to see him go this route. Arch at Home
Now that there has been a year gone by, what is the verdict on LoF Chemistry? What did you use for labs? In looking at the Chemistry stream, I realized that my rising 9th grader does not have enough Algebra for most chemistry programs but LoF Chemistry would be a good fit. In addition, she loves Fred. Mom22ns
I picked up the book and didn't end up using it. I have a huge collection of Fred and the child that enjoyed it has now graduated. I guess it is time to start cleaning out.
Space station
Heads up that Chapter 8 is filled with errors, including the answers to all 3 "Your Turn to Play" questions at the end of that Chapter. There are more errors, but Chapter 8 seems to be the worst, at least so far.
