Jeannie in NJ
I had 2 pieces of tiramusu cake last night. It was great but boy do I feel awful. I woke up with a headache and just feel blah. Now I will be dragging all day , and feeling all foggy. Do others get like this when they have some sugar and carbs?
Pawz4me
I don't eat a lot of sugar, but I have found over the years that my body needs lots of complex carbs to feel best. ETA: But I'm also of an age (and have been for awhile!) where hormones are an issue. So I don't always attribute not feeling well to what I have or haven't eaten. I hope you feel better soon! fraidycat
Carbs, no. Gluten, yes.

Wildiris
I ate too much sugar yesterday along with carbs. I think sugar, and not the carbs, affect my well-being the next day. It almost feels like a hangover without the alcohol consumption, but it makes sense since alcohol turns to sugar in the body.

But when I eat cake, brownies or other deserts that are high in sugar, I wake up with a "hangover" feeling. It's the sugar that does it to me. lmrich
Hidden dairy knocks me out. I really need to be more on top of things. I can not even lick a spoon or taste a cheese sauce anymore. I was sick all day yesterday.
countrygal
Yeah.... I think the longer you go without sugar the harder the crash is after you have something. Both sugar and carbs do that to me, but sugar more so.

I am in the process (again) of cutting sugar out of my diet completely. I love coffee...with cream and sugar. I refuse to use splenda or any other sugar substitutes (whether chemical or "natural"). Baked goods, ice cream, and candy all leave me feeling hungover the next day. Pasta, beans, breads do not.
Truscifi
Yes, sugar especially but simple carbs to lesser degree. They make me super sleepy to the point that it is dangerous for me to drive after I eat, and I feel bloated and yucky the next day.
happi duck
Yes to the sugar hangover. I'm glad I gave up sugar to no longer be a slave to sugar but I did expect to be able to choose to enjoy a piece of pie on pi day...sigh...
