GailV Posted July 22, 2008 Share Posted July 22, 2008 Go to the library and check out The Best Old Movies for Families: a Guide to Watching Together by Ty Burr. It'll give you a rundown on a bunch of old films and why he chose them, with a brief synopsis. We are having a blast with this. Sometimes we agree with his assessments, and sometimes not. I just wish it had a better index. My kids keep looking up what TCM is showing and asking if it's in the book -- it's sort of balky to use that way. In the past week or so we've watched: Bringing Up Baby Sherlock Jr. The Lady Eve Meet Me in St. Louis The Music Box None of which I would've chosen on my own. We liked some more than others. Other than that, we're huge fans of musicals. Music Man Seven Brides for Seven Brothers Annie Get Your Gun Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Mary Poppins (when they were older -- dd thought the chimney sweeps were scary, plus it's a long movie) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
