VA/MD girls...how are you all handling the weather?

Recommended Posts

We've had some wild weather today, but nothing crucial happened at my house. Just a good bit of blowing and some seriously pouring rain.

Over here on the mid-shore, it's just sort of rainy. It's not even raining as hard as our normal rain.

The kids just came home from Parents' Night Out at the Y, and one of the girls who was working reported hearing from a friend that there was a tornado, but we're still only under a watch, so I don't know.

I broke a window trying to get them all closed, but the STORM didn't damage anything. I think the worst is over. It was rather dramatic or a while. Mmy dog was NOT happy with the thunder.

Oh no! That's one of those things that's terrible, but I want to laugh.

Seems to have cleared off for now. But a dash to my car just a few yards away earlier left me pretty wet.

There's one more band about to move through, but it doesn't look as bad as some of the others, so hopefully no more tornado warnings. I do worry about about our stream, but I think the overall rainfall will be ok as far as it flooding too much.

We've lucked out this time. In my exact location, I've been BETWEEN a lot of the warnings. And the rain only got heavy a few times, and the wind never got too bad.

I'm sure the dam my sons and the neighbors have been building has washed away though.

It's been crazy. We had only a short, intense thunderstorm tonight, but local friends have posted photos of downed trees, awesome cloud formations, and rainbows.

When we lived along the Rocky Mountains, we thought the local saying was, "If you don't like the weather, wait ten minutes." Dh and I were laughing that it's equally true here too.

:D

Ds alarmed me with a text: Just evacuated the recital for a tornado, but now back on track. I couldn't reach home for an hour (they were watching TV-doh) and was a bit panicky. I work Friday night so was on my way to work in the thick of it and the rain was incredible, but made it OK.

Another small burst of storms coming through now. My poor dh is out in this as he is the one on call for his department. He told me that he just drove by the soccer field where the kids are supposed to play in the morning, and it's a big pond. Guess we get to sleep in tomorrow. :D
