Brenda in MA
We are looking at the following for 11th grade (at least at this point): AP Calc AB (possibly BC, need to think on that one) AP Latin Classical Literature + writing Adv. Physics (with Giancoli following AP Physics B syllabus, not sure if he'll take the exam) Economics (1 semester home-brewed course) History of Structure -- Ancient to Modern (1 semester home-brewed course) possibly: computer programming & PE at the YMCA. I can't believe he'll have only 2 years left! Brenda
ThisIsTheDay
Dd is in 11th. She's taken/taking: 1 Geometry (Jacob's) 1 English (several different writing curriculum) 1 Chemistry (Apologia, through an outside class) 1 Neurobiology (Great Course lecture as a spine, plus others) 1 Foreign Language (has dabbled in several, now working toward an SAT subject test in Korean) .5 Government (5000 Year Leap as spine) .5 Economics (Uncle Eric) .5 Philosophy (Philosophy for Kids, Sophie's World, Great Courses lecture) .5 Eschatology (series of sermons from a former church) .5 PE (soccer) .5 Study Skills (a few books, SAT prep) That's it. I wish there weren't so many half credit courses in there.
Julie in MN
Like everyone else, things can change. But we are starting to make plans, too. Right now it looks like: - Early US History 0.5 & Gov 0.5 with MFW's US1 - US Lit & Comp with MFW's US1, including Easy Grammar Ultimate, with lit adjusted to fit in book club - Biblical Worldview with MFW's US1 - Precalc, which he's applying to do via PSEO, and hopefully also continue with math team - Spectrum Chemistry - Looking into whether it seems okay to drop French after 2 years, since ds out of the blue said he wants to take Latin I & Psychology via PSEO, 'cause he says they will be useful in a medical career - Possibly dropping the YMCA phy ed class (it's getting more expensive) and not giving him his usual semester credit for his very extensive and varied phy ed activities ;) , since he has 2 semester credits already; wondering if this will leave him time for another elective (health? intro to logic? personal finance? programming?) or whether PSEO will eat up any extra time (if we can get all the paperwork done, he is accepted, & he gets into the courses he wants) Okay, back to trying to get this year done! regentrude
My 11th grader will do: Calculus (starts over the summer) Calculus based physics (at university) - 2 semesters French 3 and 4 (at university) US history American Literature Government (to coincide with election year) plus choir, PE But we do not schedule electives since both French and physics will be 4-hour-classes and will take a lot of time out of class. Miss Marple
Tentative plan: At local university (dual enrollment) Fall: 1. Spanish 1 2. College Algebra 3. MIcrocomputer Applications Spring: 1. Spanish 2 2. Trigonometry 3. Biology with lab Home for all year: continue our literature study, philosophy, economics (combination of traditional and Money Matters for Teens), and second half of World History (he did first semester with OU high school online, but the school closed and he needs to finish the second semester). This puts him on track for a trig based physics and calculus as a senior. I want to continue with some AoPS books we have (counting and probability & number theory) so I might change things up a bit in 11th. I can delay economics until senior year. As you can see, I'm still thinking through some of the electives, but we have the basics down.

Gwen in VA
I took me a bit of processing to realize that my youngest will be in 11th grade, so I can post on this thread! <sniff> I only have one more year of homeschool planning! Plans for dd's junior year include -- * AP Latin * AP English Lang & Comp * pre-calculus * U.S. history (2 semesters at CC) * physics (still debating our approach) * music theory (2 semesters at local 4-year college) and of course a heavy dose of extra-curriculars, mostly music-related. I'm waiting for inspiration about physics. Every year one particular subject causes most of the angst..... Mama Lynx
Algebra II (at home) (prep for SATII math exam) AP US History (PA Homeschoolers) Physics or Chemistry (TBD) (probably at home, possibly at CC) either American Lit or Early Modern Great Books (TBD) (at home) Latin IV (at home) (prep for AP exam or SATII exam) German I (unsure - at home, OSU correspondence, or CC) Plus, he still needs work on composition. We'll probably also do half a credit of humanities/fine arts: I have some music appreciation lined up, Mapping the World With Art, and we may do a unit on Godel, Escher, Bach and count it as humanities. Extra curriculars will be Scouts, robotics, soccer, and hopefully an instrument.
galtgrl
I'm waiting for inspiration about physics. Every year one particular subject causes most of the angst..... Send me the inspiration when you find it, please!:D Here's our (tentative) list for 11th: Pre-Calc Spanish or French 2 American Lit. & Composition American Government (0.5) Economics (0.5) Music Theory & Performance 3 Physics Advanced Biology or Chemistry Credits :7 I'm toying with the idea of taking 2 years to do physics so they can still do "fun" science (to them, Biology or Chemistry type courses) their Senior year. They also compete on Varsity track and Soccer teams with a private school. They also are heavily involved in 4-H. Maybe I need to rethink our schedule!!!:tongue_smilie:
