mom31257
I'm so sad for my sister. My nephew, her son, turned 18 this week. He has severe developmental delays (about 4-5 age mentally), severe epilepsy, and mitochondrial disease. This is the second year in a row that her brother-in-law and sister-in-law (on her husband's side of the family) have not called her son to say happy birthday or given him a gift. My nephew is so sweet and easy to please. Just calling him thrills him. He's happy to get gifts that are easy to find. They are busy people, but he is their only nephew, and he lives in the same county. I guess I'm mostly sad for them. They don't really know the joy he could bring them. I live 3.5 hours away and wish so much I was as close to my nephew as they are. I can't really talk about my feelings on this anywhere else, so I knew I could here. A.Balaban
Happy Birthday to the young man! He is very lucky to have such a caring aunt. I am sure that he would simply just love a phone call to speak with you even though you can't be there as often as you would like.

katiejane
:grouphug: I am sorry. I am glad he has you for an Aunty. My brother and brother in law never get our kids presents or call. They probably don't even remember when their birthdays are.

Peaceful Isle
That's really sad :( Some people just get wrapped up in their own world, that they forget the blessings they could have outside of it. I'm glad they have you !:grouphug:
