Jenny in Florida
My son loves the Ranger's Apprentice series, which might be a little on the young side for your requested age group. There is a spin-off series, which I don't think he knows exists just yet. I bought him the first of those for Christmas. He also likes the new Riordan series, The Kane Chronicles. My daughter follows the "Nerdfighter" authors: John Green, Libba Bray, Maureen Johnson, etc. She's also been enjoying Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan series. Goliath, the third book, was released recently.
Caroline
My 16 year old son likes Bernard Cornwall's Saxon series, the Eragon books (I think there are four now, and my ten year old likes these, too, so not challenging reading by any definition), Michael Crichton, and Ender's Game. Laura Corin
Calvin's working his way through a list of powerful but short classics, many suggested by lovely WTM ladies. Recently, that has included: To Kill a Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, The Scarlet Letter... FaithManor
The newest Christopher Paolini book. Dickens - Oliver Twist Oh, here is something funny. The 14 year old who is studying Art History saw my "Saving Leonardo" on the shelf (author - Nancy Pearcy) and thought it was a biography or something dramatic about Leonardo Da Vinci. Of course, it's a philosophical treatise on art...worldview expressed through art/architecture, etc. Didn't take him long to abandon the book! Faith
