Stacia
Using this list, I looked through all the movies that came out in 2010. The ones I saw in the theater this year were (in no particular order): Iron Man 2 Alice in Wonderland Inception The Last Airbender The A-Team The Expendables Prince of Persia Kick-Ass Robin Hood How to Train Your Dragon Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief The Voyage of the Dawn Treader The Sorcerer's Apprentice Salt Despicable Me RED The Other Guys Green Zone Killers Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole The Tourist Date Night Tooth Fairy Marmaduke Dinner for Schmucks Knight and Day Leap Year The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo The Girl Who Played with Fire The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest Diary of a Wimpy Kid Furry Vengeance Due Date Hands-down, my favorite was Inception (loved, loved, loved it). In a distant second, I'd place the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, along w/ Robin Hood and Kick-Ass (which was totally inappropriate, extremely violent, and really, really darkly funny). As for kids movies, I think I liked How To Train Your Dragon the best. Other fun ones were Prince of Persia, Furry Vengeance, and Despicable Me. Overall, though, most of the movies were 'meh' at best this year. What about you??? What were your favorites of 2010? Ali in OR
We don't go to the theater much, and then it's pretty much kid movies. So pretty easy to rank them: Tangled (loved it and will buy it on dvd) Voyage of the Dawn Treader (liked it and will buy it on dvd) Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief (did not like it and won't watch it again)
Denise in Florida
I did not get to see many movies this year. Of the ones I saw, Inception was my favorite - no contest. It is running a close second to my all time favorite, Serenity. Unfortunately, my friends hated it so I couldn't talk about it endlessly like I wanted to ( they had already suffered through the Serenity chatter) I also liked Iron Man 2, Jonah Hex and Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes was this year, right? hummm
Mejane
I can't believe how many movies you saw in the theater! I don't think I went to the movies once last year. :001_smile: Waiting (impatiently) for Inception to come out on DVD.

We get an annual movie pass from my parents as our Christmas present, so we see a lot of movies in the theater. Inception is out on DVD (ds got it for me). Don't know if it's out on Netflix though....
AngieW in Texas
My favorite movie this year was Knight and Day. Other favorites from this year (I think they're all from this year) in no particular order: Sherlock Holmes Tron Inception True Grit Salt Harry Potter Alice in Wonderland My dh absolutely loved Hangover and Kickass, both of which I absolutely hated. I didn't expect to like True Grit, but it was actually quite good. We all went to see it. My 17yo HATED it. My 15yo didn't like it. The 12yo, my dh, and I all loved it. Country Mouse
I really liked: Shutter Island Inception The Town The Other Guys True Grit Dinner for Schmucks Date Night The Social Network Catfish and for family movies Toy Story 3 and Despicable Me Edited January 1, 2011 by Country Mouse
Mommy22alyns
I saw Toy Story 3, Tangled, and SATC 2. SATC 2 was awful. Tangled was fantastic. TS3 was pretty good.
Ginevra
I don't see nearly the number of movies you see in-theater, but I loved: Harry Potter (my favorite of the HP movies, besides #1) The Last Airbender How to Train Your Dragaon...except, the hero was named hiccup. I didn't like that at all. I expect I will love Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but I haven't seen it yet. And I will probably like Tangled, too.
Angel
We are pretty choosy about the movies we see at the theater, so all the ones I saw at the theater were favorites... Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Eclipse Letters to Juliet (dollar theater) How to Train Your Dragon (dh and dd saw this at the theater but it's a favorite of all) Dh and dd loved Toy Story 3 Dh really enjoyed Knight and Day and also Inception (I haven't seen either). Jen in PA
Of the kiddie films, I liked How to Train your Dragon best. I also really enjoyed Sherlock Holmes, HP7, Robin Hood, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. We just got Netflix, so I will be watching this thread closely to fill in the gaps! AlmiraGulch
I just clicked on your link and realized I saw a TON of movies that came out this year. Wow. (Not all in the theater, though. Some I saw at home On Demand through Comcast). At any rate, here's my list: Iron Man 2 Clash of the Titans Harry Potter Twilight Eclipse Inception Karate Kid Toy Story 3 The Expendables Robin Hood How to Train Your Dragon Shrek Forever After Tangled Voyage of the Dawn Treader Salt The Book of Eli The Last Song Despicable Me Red Get Him to the Greek Valentine’s Day The Other Guys Shutter Island Killers Dear John Step Up 3d Grown-Ups Megamind The Town Brooklyn’s Finest Date Night Going the Distance Tooth Fairy Cop Out Wall Street 2 The Social Network Dinner for Schmucks Knight and Day The Bounty Hunter The Backup Plan True Grit Burlesque Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Just Wright Easy A Furry Vengeance Life as we Know It The Fighter Letters to Juliet The Switch Charlie St. Cloud Eat Pray Love The Kids are Alright Gulliver’s Travels All Good Things Not one sticks out to me as outstanding, so I'd agree with the OP that on the whole this year's movies were just...meh. Forced to choose, I'd say I liked The Fighter the best, with The Social Network a close second, although I LOVED Toy Story 3, and enjoyed many of the others on the list. Some of the comedies were really good, too, but a comedy would never be my favorite. I did not like All Good Things, Gulliver's Travels, Grown Ups, Step Up 3d (please do not ask me why I saw that movie).
edithcrawley
I saw the following: Alice in Wonderland-Really Good Toy Story 3-Excellent Despicable Me-Really Good The Tourist-Excellent She's Out of My League-Really Stupid (dragged to this one by some friends) True Grit-Pretty good. I want to see Inception and The King's Speech
Alphabetika
I'm not much of a movie watcher but my dh and dd16 love movies, so they've submitted their top 3: 3. Inception 2. True Grit 1. Never Let Me Go
Wendi
My husband and I rarely go to movies alone, so we mostly see family-friendly movies. This year, we liked: Megamind Despicable Me Toy Story 3 Voyage of the Dawn Treader My son saw the new Harry Potter movie with his friends and really liked it. My husband and I saw Morning Glory at the same time; it was okay. Wendi
DaffodilDreams
Holy smokes, OP! You saw a TON of movies. Picking jaw up off floor now . . . The only movie we saw in the theatre this year was Harry Potter 7 pt 1. So I guess that was my favorite movie of this year. :001_smile:

So I guess that was my favorite movie of this year. :001_smile: Same here. :D And I'll even predict that our favorite of 2011 will be Harry Potter 7 Part 2 - as that will likely again be the only one we see at the theater. :tongue_smilie:
