send you to your room? Really, if my daughter behaved as I sometimes do, she'd go to her room. well, she does . . . I guess that's where she gets it. :001_huh:

One time I was yelling at my kids about something, and dh told me I needed a time-out and go to my room. I did, and I felt much better afterward.

This happened here too. It's a minute for each year of age so I got 37 minutes! :D It was heavenly!

Yes. I give my childen one minute per year of age for time-out. I'd love to be left alone to be by myself without interuption for that long! When I over-react, I'm usually overly tired and feeling overwhelmed. Time to myself would be nice....We should send ourselves to time-out before we misbehave.

I was waiting for the kids to finish gymnastics a few weeks ago when one of the siblings in the lobby, maybe 18 months, had a screaming, kicking, fist-pounding-on-the-floor-missed-her-nap kind of tantrum. Her mother calmly picked her up and took her out to the car... for... you guessed it... a nap. If I could do that and have someone put me down for a nap.... I would in a trice.

I send myself to my room. I'll just tell the kids I'm crabby. Sometimes I have to apologize to them for something, then tell them I have a bad attitude and need a few minutes alone in my room to change my attitude. My kids (like Rosie's) tend to want to follow me everywhere, but they give me time to adjust my attitude. Just like I give them time to adjust theirs when needed.

I've often wished someone would tell me that I *must* go take a nap. :D

Absolutely! Why do we resist something we need so much? I will agonize about should I or shouldn't I, but when I take one, everything always looks better.

I'm so fortunate. When dh comes home and I sheepishly admit I took a nap today, he always replies, "Good!" with a smile.
