  1. I"m not sure, but my rule of thumb is: "everytime you go pee, drink a glass of water"
  2. I remember being in 4-H, that was a lot of fun!!!! congratulations to your dd, job well done! Side note: would she be willing to share her recipe?
  3. I wish parents shared your viewpoint incuding, my parents included.
  4. but, but, but, you saved so much money and got really cool gel pens:001_smile: By the by, did you have to *prove* you were a teacher or did they just take your word for it?
  5. my 14yo ds can wear my shoes (I wear 10's) and we look eye to eye (I'm 5'9") Like my MIL says to her boys where in high school (she's 5'2" and her boys are 6'): "Don't think I can't still turn you over my knee!!!" Of course she jests. It's funny though.
  6. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Family pets are well...family. Again my condolences.
  7. OK, see I did misinterpret. Gee either way it sounds pretty bad. She doesn't think to highly of people, how unfortunate.
  8. I was confused about that post as well. I didn't want to reply for fear that I interpretted her incorrectly. Was she saying that parents/posters WANT their kids to get pregnant simple b/c we are teaching them about b/c? Am I reading that right? Oh gosh I hope not b/c that's horrible to think that parents such as ourselves that spend so much time on which grammar book to use would be so ignorant about what our kids have to face in this day and age. Ya know?
  9. This is me to a T. I'm either a seriously confused individual :D or more openminded to what on the other side.
  10. Compliments of my ex when a bill collector called for him can't get blood from a turnip
  11. You misread or I mistyped. My intention was not to imply anything negative towards liberalism or conservatism, because I feel that I am both. Is that wrong to be both? Is it possible? I'm actually finding that there are good things (and bad) about both view points. I think it's important to have both view points in order to make informed choices. But thank you Mrs. Mungo for allowing me to delve deeper into my polical persuasions. And thank you tofuscramble for this thought provoking thread.
  12. This thread has made me think of something kinda weird. I'm a pagan, for generalizing the term, and for the most part they are liberal. But, b/c of my upbringing I add some conservative views in my way of thinking... sorry thinking outloud :tongue_smilie:continue
  13. ah...well parents authority: they can ask all they want "why" and I will be happy to oblige but in the end they will still do as I say. police and government authority: as children they will obey the law and while they are children will educate themselves so they may change laws if they so desire when they are old enough to vote or run for office themselves. I show them that I obey the law and how I can voice my opinion on certain politcal issues by voting and talking about them with other people, such as yourself;) I too want my kids to ask questions, but I also don't feel that it gives them license to disobey laws or the rules of the house. It goes with respect, at least for me.
  14. ah maybe that's what happened!.... I boiled for 10min, THEN I removed and put on lid. I'll try that tomorrow. Wish me luck.
  15. Not specific meals perhaps but suggestions on pre-cook, pre-dice, slice shred. is a big help with me. I'll make a batch of stew and freeze it flat so it fits in a small cooler better. I'll pre-cook sausage, ground beef, chicken, pasta and freeze. Food savers are helpful too, those vacuum bags thingy's. I would have all of meals pretty much done, just need to preheat on site. More time to hike or what ever. Oh, I do have a yummy recipe for "Rattlesnake Stew". It's jsut called that, it's acutally a bean stew with Polish sausage. PM me if you want it
  16. these remind me of the chapter in the Core Knowledge book (what your __ grader needs to know) where it lists all the *familiar sayings*. However, I don't think you would find most of the ones listed here  here's a few more for ya: Make a better door than a window (someone standing in front of the TV) Make like a tree and leave Better pick up that lip or you'll trip (mom used to say this to me all the time when I pouted and I use it today!!)
  17. I personally dont' think what you're asking is so horrible. I would expect my kids to share what ever they bring to some ones house and vice versa. The Thursday's thing, if the younger one wants to go with her sibling (and it's ok with parents) let her. I dont' put up with attitude, then again that's just me.
  18. Sounds good to me. Boyfriends, girlfriends definetly.
