  8. Well, earthquake was the last thing on my husband's mind.... He ran outside b/c he thought the house was spontaneously falling down. When he got outside he realized he was still shaking and figured the factory nearby must have had a huge explosion. Um, can you tell we have never experienced an earthquake before? :tongue_smilie:
  9. I have once "inhaled" a piece of food. It was quite painful. Here is how it happened. I was in the process of swallowing. I got ticked at something and laughed. I happened to laugh at the moment the piece of food hit the back of my throat. Doubtful I could reproduce this if I tried. Anyhow, the piece of food caught the "breath of the laugh" I guess and flew upward into my nose. Ow!!!! I can't remember how I got it down but I was glad when it did.
  10. Wow, thanks everyone! Extremely helpful. (I think we will go with the one from Amazon ;))
  11. Do you know if these are the same book? http://www.sonlight.com/BH05.html and http://www.amazon.com/Peoples-World-Internet-Linked-Cultures/dp/0794510256/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1314037866&sr=1-1 TIA!
  12. No. I'd be bothered by that. That said, I did check every person in our group against the registered sex offender list. But I did that on my own time. My kids make friends with other kids and naturally want to go their houses, spend the night.... I always check for that sort of thing.
  13. Current Health Magazines are great. There is no sexuality unless you opt for that insert.
  14. Yes, I have. Most nights, I'm home alone during bedtime and many nights, all night with the six kids. Enter a stomach bug. I had 4 kids who aren't feeling well and throwing up and 2 very active night owls who were extremely cranky b/c they needed to go to sleep. Drug them because it is easier? Absolutely. I gave my 1 & 3 year olds melatonin to go to bed (not early but on time) so I could take care of my other 4 who were throwing up.
  15. I have six already: Tyler (girl) Hayden Greyson Isaac Arwyn Edward Arwyn, Hayden & Greyson are favorite names of mine so I'm only going to pick 14 more. Edwin (instead of Edward) Piper Canyon Tiernan Lyndon Tennyson Stone Violet Quinn Lakin Shade Langston Tyson Ocean All of the above are names that I argued strongly for ;)
  16. I think it is a trade-off. I don't know that I'm less stressed when I weigh everything but I do know that much much MUCH prefer the stresses of homeschooling over public school. I'll take the stress over deciding curriculum vs. the stress over trying to get public school curricula to work with my kids. I'll take the stress of managing everyone all day vs having to be somewhere when the rooster crows. I'll take the stress of managing family dynamics vs daily peer issues I can totally understand why it feels like less stress - I prefer these stresses yk? Likewise, I can see why some people would prefer to send their kids off ;)
  17. Wow, I have to wonder if that is a typo. That seems way underpriced. We would be all over that if we were still in Durham! (moved away 4 years ago)
  18. I admin a cloth diapering website so might say I'm biased. ;) Yes, you should cloth diaper. Yes, it can help with rashes. It seems the prudent decision to me.
