  1. We take pizza dough and spread it on a pan, add mozz cheese and ground cooked/drained sausage, roll it up, and bake it. I think it's a calzone or stromboli like that? I've never had either of those but I think that's basically what it is.
  2. I think so too! Great job! I totally understand that feeling you described, but hopefully it will get easier and also that you'll feel good with the boundaries you are setting. ❤️
  3. Matchbooks with the couple's name and wedding date on it were big when I got married in the 80s. We didn't do those for our wedding, but my in-laws did them for our wedding reception that they hosted for us (we had two receptions in different states). I still have some of those, but those wouldn't be good now. For our wedding, we had very small glass bowls with our names and wedding date on them. I still use mine to hold my wedding ring when I'm in the kitchen and handling food or using cleaning products that I don't want on my ring. It's very small - not really a bowl but I don't know what else to call it. ETA - maybe about the size of these tealight candle holders but they were decorated on the edges and had our names and wedding date in script on them https://www.amazon.com/PINIWON-Tealight-Holders-Wedding-Centerpiece/dp/B0BG78D8TX/ref=asc_df_B0CHB9KY5W/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=680523312848&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=18016317812781120870&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9015255&hvtargid=pla-2245582204976&mcid=15e8acefa7323cf09bb11f849dbea60b&gad_source=1&th=1
  4. or even maybe both...find a new one while continuing with the old one.
  5. Sending lots of positive thoughts. You've been through so much and I hope everything goes smoothly.
  6. I wonder how that was paid for. @Harriet Vane I'm so sorry and hope you feel better very soon. 😞
  7. That is incredibly stressful. Sending hugs.
  8. @Spryte I just want to apologize. When I commented about the bread, I wasn't considering special food requirements. That's totally different IMO and in that case I would spend that much. DH buys processed wheat bread for himself and it's $2/loaf. I rarely eat bread, but I prefer whole wheat. I haven't bought it in a long time but I assume it's around 3.50/loaf? He buys cookies pretty cheap - 2.50 or 3.00 for a package of Oreos, Chips Ahoy, Keebler cookies?, $3 for a big box of Hostess cupcakes... ETA I just checked and whole wheat looks like it's closer to $4 here - a little under at Walmart.
  9. Wow, that's scary! Glad you finally saw her!
  10. Why do you think that? I would never ever pay $9 for a loaf of bread. I'm pretty thrifty and don't do any of the other things you mentioned either (movies, alcohol, expensive coffee). I didn't respond to this thread yet because there's so little that I could really cut back on. Definitely diet soda, which I drink way way too much of and has gotten very expensive. And gum, which is a complete waste of money. Other than that, things like protein bars but there's really not much that I splurge on. We do have Amazon Prime, but it's the student version (for now) and I feel like it pretty much pays for itself in a year's time with the special discounts/offers throughout the year. There are a lot of foods and clothes and shoes and services that I'd love to have, but wouldn't purchase due to the cost. We are fortunate that we do have the money, but I'm just uncomfortable spending over a certain amount on things. I'm struggling with rising prices because I have a limit in my mind and everything is becoming way over that limit.
  11. Very smart and worth the peace of mind! 🙂
  12. I'm really paranoid about stuff like that (I have emetophobia), but my guess is that you'll be okay. Do you have any probiotics? I'd probably take some just to make myself feel better. I think the can would have had to have been in worse shape than that for botulism. Fingers crossed you will feel totally fine!
  13. Thanks. I am SO bad at this. We're just repainting our two guest bedrooms (for our adult kids and their SO/spouse) so it really doesn't matter much but we do want to sell sometime in the near future so it can't look terrible either. Now we're looking at Bungalow Beige.
  14. I'm not worried about that at all. I'm sure it will all be used for her. I think it would be fun too. Talked to DH and we're definitely going with Target thanks to the responses here. I think I'll do that. I'm pretty sure they live in the same general area that you do. We are way up in the NE part of the state and it can still be quite chilly here, but I assume it's quite a bit warmer there. Still, she's not used to even cool temps so it will be quite a change for her.
  15. bumping an old thread. We just picked accessible beige for our bedrooms but got the paint card sample thing and it looks lighter than we want. I'm worried that balanced beige is too dark - any thoughts? We only use Sherwin Williams paint, but I'm open to any neutral colors that go with the tan carpeting and blue bedding that is in the rooms we are painting.
  16. you could even look at the student group on reddit if possible. If you have a reddit account, I'd ask there as a prospective student/parent. I haven't looked at colleges in years, but maybe college confidential would be another resource? I don't know...it's been so long for me.
  17. I would expect a much quicker response with a smaller school. The lack of response would definitely concern me with any school, though. I would think they would be courting admitted students and I would be thinking this is a bad sign for current students. Can you look at student reviews or on reddit for how the department generally works with current students? Is there a parent page on facebook or somewhere you can find that kind of information?
  18. Her birthday is just a few days before she'll arrive here and we are giving her cash then, so she will have that in addition to the gift card. I did consider that. She's used to very warm weather and it could still get chilly after she arrives (especially chilly for her since she's only experienced cold weather once - they went to Turkey last November and it was cold and rainy much of the time).
  19. Wow, thanks so much for your help! Target seems to be the obvious choice. I figured we can't go wrong with any, but Target would definitely be the most practical. Their Target has groceries too.
  20. I forgot about that! ETA I checked and theirs doesn't have one, but that's okay.
  21. Thank you! I forgot to mention that she's not familiar with Target or Ulta for sure. I don't know if she knows Amazon or not.
  22. Ds' fiance (from Indonesia) is coming to the US soon for her first time and will be living with ds and they are getting married soon. We want to give her some kind of welcome gift and thought a gift card would be best so she can buy some things she needs since I don't know how much she will be bringing with her or even how much she has to bring. We narrowed down to Amazon, Target, and Ulta. Target and Ulta are within walking distance from where they will be living. I was thinking she might need/want toiletries like shampoos, soaps, nail polish, skin care, etc. and Ulta would be nice, but then Target would have all of those things plus clothing, home goods, etc. And, of course, Amazon would have everything. She's in her late 20s if that matters. If she had been coming in the winter, I would have made up a basket with stuff to keep her warm like warm socks, a blanket, gloves, plus a smaller gift card but she won't need those things for a while now. I'll pair the gift card with some kind of treat too. ❤️ ETA they won't have Amazon prime if that matters
  23. So so very happy for you and DH, @Sahara! Count me as another one who got teary reading your update. Sending a big happy hug to you.
