  1. We declined the position in Houston. Instead, we felt led to go back to our home church over near Frisco, TX. Everything has just fallen into place and we know it was what was intended. We already made an offer on a home, waiting on an answer. SO, who here is a North Texas dweller?
  2. I am back in school at 33 and worried about the same thing. However, I plan to get an internship while still in school to build experience and *prove* myself.
  3. Umm, I do that. I'll order water with lemons and then use a sugar packet to make lemonaide. I never looked at it as being dishonest.
  4. Often we order water to save money. However, someone at the table usually orders a soda. It is not unheard of for someone to swipe a couple of drinks of their soda. However, not in access and only a couple of sips just to get the flavor.
  5. I'm in the medical field, so I may not be the best person to ask about personal experiences with venomous critters. Our dog was killed by a cotton-mouth bite in April. Actually, multiple bites on her muzzle when she was swimming in the pond. I hate snakes.
  6. We do host children often, but it is not something we really *enjoy*. We make a conscious effort to do so, but almost every family is very reciprocative. We used to NEVER have other kids over because we cannot stan ill behavior and for awhile it seemed every child was ill mannered. That has changed in this area, the kids all seem to be pretty good and we are learning to enjoy having company.
  7. Didn't realize we'd cover the contro's, but I am proud of who I am so here: Charismatic Christian, staunch pro-life since way before Christianity, gun collector (who also trains her children to handle guns to hunt safely and shoot for sport), hunter, fisher, pathetically trying to grow a garden, circumcise my boys, no longer vaccinate after my son was adversely effected, pierced daughters ears shortly after her birth, I let my DD wear tank tops and bikinis and shorts (not too short), courtship no dating, exclusively breast fed all my children including my adopted son, was even a wet nurse for 4 months, I believe most gay people were born that way and therefore do not judge them like is common among Christians, love modern music, do not censor my kids very much, allow my boys to travel the US/Canada to rodeo, my 3 year old has a 4 wheeler and so do the other kids, Dh is teaching 3 yo to ride a dirt bike so he can moto-cross just like "Daddy", can no longer have children due to a messed up body and will continue to build my family as God sees fit through adoption, secretly envy the Duggars, was a DJ at a country radio station for 4 years and loved it, and probably a lot more, but I'll stop there.
  8. Sure thing! I m relatively new, but I think I am established as a poster now. :D I am Heather (33), married to Chris (37). We live on a ranch in central Texas but will be moving soon back to suburban life. There are 4 children, the two younger of our union and the two older from a previous marriage. Right now we have all four, but the older two travel the rodeo circuit with their Dad, so they will be heading out mid summer. He will be homeschooling them. I am beginning to homeschool my two youngest. Our curric. is posted in my siggy. Wyatt will be 14 in July Tucker will be 13 in July Michaela just turned 11 Troy will be 4 in August When we get moved and settled in we will be completing the foster program classes so we can be a foster family for medical needs babies (Most likely drug addicted, as our youngest was born addicted and we have experience through his adoption. Also, I am a respiratory therapist). Our goal is to adopt one or two more children. I am also a full time student going for my second & third degrees. (I am in two programs and will graduate with two bachelors degrees in Entertainment Business and Music Business. I will be done Dec 2010, and plan to go forward with my Master's in Entertainment Business.) I also still work every other weekend as a respiratory therapist, while my DH stays home with the kids.
  9. You could also say though, that when a child has had a horrible start in life, that changing their name signifies a new life...one that is nothing like the old one. If I adopted a toddler or infant and did not like their name, I PROMISE you I would change it.
  10. Thank you SO much! I am downloading it now. Looks great!
  11. I just recently posted something similar, and the response was overwhelmingly LLP. :D
  12. Welcome aboard and thanks for the giggles. I think people here like a challenge, and it certainly appears you will be one. ;)
  13. Thank you, I do believe that is what I am looking for. We live North of Waco a little ways. Do you want to sell yours? ;)
  14. I saw one today at the homeschooling store. It was in a White Binder, and had separate student packets you can buy. I want it and was going to look it up online but cannot find it! Please help!?
  15. Thank you. :D I will go there tomorrow. Would have gone today, but they are closed Mondays.
  16. He says try a baby bottle. Yes, her system is stressed and that is why he thinks her gait is off. He thinks you got her too early, she is stressed. Pedialyte works too. Sometimes when they get sick, they go downhill fast. I hope your piggy is okay, but DH said to tell you they are very susceptible and die easily.
  17. My husband is a good role model for my DS. He just chooses not to follow it. Now, yelling was a last resort after I was at the end of my rope. It worked better than anything else I had tried at the time. Now I have got it figured out. I make him run anytime he messes up. He will run the stairs in our house, he can run from one cattle guard to the other, and on our road trip when he started being smart mouthed or hateful, we pulled over and made him run in front of the vehicle on the side of the road while we crept behind (only for two minutes or so, nothing cruel). Only had to do that twice, and he has not had to do anything sense. It worked.
  18. My husband who was a pig farmer for years said: gatoraid is right, get some young pig pellets (creep feed) and watch what you feed her. She is just off the teet and needs slow intro to any food. Do not let her overeat.
  19. We're just trying to scale back where we can. We are just now adjusting to being without my full income, and I still work 2-4 days a month. DH had a HUGE income reduction too (58%) so we have not adjusted to that either. We will be moving whenever the requisition gets approved through DH company, so hoping to have a house where we can have gardens and chickens. Other than that, we are not prepared.
  20. Maybe when we get moved here I will check it out. I liked that little store. The ladies were helpful and kind. I bought several books including the "Getty and Dubay Handwriting" book and "Blackline Masters".
  21. Thank you, that second one is right by my parents house.
  22. So, we are at my parents and they have a group of family and friends over. We get to talking about education somehow, so when it comes up the struggles we are having getting DD needs met in PS and one of their friends asks "so what are you going to do?" I said "I am taking charge of her education. She is going to get her education at home." :001_huh: ***chirping crickets*** :001_huh: Then a few praises, a few raised eyebrows, and a lot of changing the subject.
  23. I am down here and wanted to go to a homeschool store I had seen something about, but don't remember the name. Anyone?
  24. I just got my Mac in February, and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I will NEVER go back to PC again. We still have 4 PC's and only one Mac, but we will phase those over as we can. I cannot stand to use a PC. I just pulled over 100 Trojan viruses off of my SECURITY PROTECTED PC. They made my PC useless. Macs also are more secure because everything is compartmentalized and not interlinked like a PC.
