  2. I love this song, it is called "That's What Mamas Do" and is sung by Jason Matthews (country) She’ll change a dirty diaper, wipe a runny nose Get a two day purple Kool-Aid stain right out of your clothes And she'll put her last spare dollar under your pillow, when you lose a tooth She'll bust down your door, and drag you out of bed Make you sit right next to her in church, wearing your Sunday best And when she bows her head to pray, you can bet she's saying one for you That's what mamas do They raise you, ground you Build their whole world around you With no care for the hell they'll go through That's what mamas do She'll keep up with all your girlfriends, scare off the ones she hates She'll get a new grey hair and a wrinkle to spare every time you come home late And when you leave to chase that dream, she's gonna cry when she walks by your empty room She'll call and sing you happy birthday, when everybody else forgets On your wedding day, she'll joke and say, “Hey, where are my grandkids?†Oh, and when she finally gets 'em she'll spoil 'em rotten the way her mama did with you That's what mamas do They raise you, ground you Build their whole world around you And they'll carry the weight of your world too That's what mamas do But she'll get old and fragile, and the end will come too soon And she'll let go and you'll hold on, the way all children do And you'll miss her, mourn her Leave pretty flowers for her And you'll cry like the baby she knew And she'll hear you, guide you And pray the light finds you She'll never stop watching over you Oh, until you're up there, too
  3. I saw a special on this on TV one time where they were catching the employees in the big sorting centers cutting cards opening, taking the loot, and retaping. We ourselves have had this happen twice. I don't think the postal employes are monitored close enough. Our old mail-man got busted dumping mail into the creek so he wouldn't have to deliver it. Of course, no cards or anything valuable EVER got dumped. He went to jail.
  4. Not everything on this board has to do with HS. This board is for "everything else" including some HS discussion. :iagree: This is very well stated... EXACTLY! I opened this thread knowing I was going to read about something I know *very little* about. I am glad she chose to come out and tell us about her lifestyle, so if I ever wondered I would know. I would NEVER PM someone about intimate details of their life if they did not first say "feel free to ask questions". We are here to learn from others. This is something I have always been curious about but never knew anyone who lived it to ask. Although I personally could never live her lifestyle, and it is against my core belief system, I appreciate having the knowledge she has supplied for me. Also, my belief system tells me to love others as Christ does, share his love for them, and not judge them. If we lived next to them I would use it as an opportunity to teach my children about tolerance and love for others, even if I taught them that we do not believe in the same lifestyle. Again, I knew what I was going to read when I scrolled over it and chose to read it. It did not offend me to read it or that it was here. If anything I am ending my day more exposed and educated than I started it. I think the questions And explanation of "tea" time was tactful and tasteful and really answered curiosity, including mine.
  5. Okay, I have been on the phone with both ebay and paypal today. They are now the SAME COMPANY! Hence, the reason you can ONLY use paypal now. They will not release the holds. I have done everything I know to do. I have fought with them for over 2 hours about this. They just keep rambling about protecting the buyer. I get that, but I have been a member since 2004 with 100% positive feedback. Paypal will only do this hold in association with Ebay purchases, not other things. So, I will no longer sell through ebay, I will just use paypal for money transactions.
  6. I was just reading over the details again and it says only purchases over $100 unless you have a 5% negative feddback score on ebay. I have 100% positive on ebay. I am calling paypal now.
  7. Thank you. I am sorry about your dog. Very sad. I did know about this. Our friends lost theirs last year after 30 minutes outside. It was only in the high 80's and he had shade too. She will only go out to potty, and if it is really hot she will wear a cooling collar even for her potty breaks.
  8. I don't know. I know it is only over a certain $$$ amount. My lowest earning was $55. I am still upset about it and do not think I will use PP anymore.
  9. :iagree: Very good advice. I have a 3 year old that is a force to be reckoned with. None of my old tricks work for him. :tongue_smilie:
  10. I pray things transition well for your family and he finds a new position soon.
  11. I did do this. Thank goodness! However, it is still a pain in the patootie!
  12. I sold several items on ebay just the way I have in the past. Had NO idea PayPal had changed anything except that they are charging fees. NO, I had to be wrong. They hold the money for confirmation of shipping and arrival. So, the person has to give me positive feedback, wait 30 days without an dispute, or it has to be proven to be delivered in order to get my money where I can use it. I understand it protects the buyer, so they get their stuff, but UGH! I had auction I bid on knowing I had money coming and now I have to wait to pay until that money clears. I shipped all the stuff today, so hopefully it will free up some soon.
  13. Okay, maybe I am just a spoiled brat. I like driving a new car. Mine is 5 years old and I am SICK of it. I need a new one with new features (like the Sync system that makes me drool).
  14. 2004 Ford Expedition 103,500 miles. We are waiting to get moved into our new home and I will get a Ford Flex. Dh truck is a 2006 Ford F150 with 80,000 and he will be getting a Dodge Dually Resistol edition. All int he next 6 months HOPEFULLY. I prefer to have vehicles with 100% coverage on warranty.
  15. As a matter of fact.... We were having a heck of a time naming her. Everything DH liked, I hated, and everything I liked he hated. I wanted to name her Thelma, but they shot that down (the fam). So, I kept thinking of female names in movies I liked and pitching them to DH (she is "his" dog). And since Steel Magnolias is one of my favs, I threw it out there and he latched on like a bass on a rattle trap!
  16. I do it in real life speak as well as texting. People text me back, "What is DD, DS, DH, etc." LOL
  17. HS weekend is the 3-4 of Oct. I wish they did more during the week for HS, but we are getting a better deal for just the weekdays. We planned the trip and then I looked to see if they had anything special for HS. I foudn it ironic that it coincides with out trip. Thank you so much for your help.
  18. We are planning on going to Branson the Wed-Fri before the HS weekend there. We have never been there, so I am looking for suggestions of things to do. This is just a family vacation, not for HS purposes, but of course when you can include things, all the better. Any suggestions?
  19. What age do you think the Penrose books are good for? My DD is 11 and we are doing LoF fractions now. She LOVES them. I think I will go ahead and get Singapore as our spine. I have heard LoF is enough, but I still worry it is not.
  20. I am glad you posted this. This is the kind of (non) customer service that we need to know about.
  21. Our adoption time frame was THREE weeks. I called an adoption attorney (not agency, they will rob you blind!) and he guided me through everything and got it all done rather quickly. It was fast and furious to get our homestudy done and all, but it all worked out. :D Congrats to your friends.
  22. I am trying to be more feminine. DH has always hated dresses (so he has stated over and over) but I noticed that everytime I wear a dress or a skirt, he compliments me. However, I also do not wear anything he would consider "frumpy". I try not to wear anything real low cut (and that is hard because my girls are large). I do not wear tight either. I am plus sized, which makes it even harder. Sooooo, I want to start wearing dresses or skirts on a regular basis. Any suggestions of where to shop? Mostly what I am finding is either frumpy or too dressy for at home every day wear.
  23. I agree with you, people ask too much for used curriculum. I get that a lot of time they can GET that price. However, I would just rather buy new and not take any risks for just a few dollars. For example: I found a Teaching Textbooks for just $20 under the new price, but the workbook had some writing in it (that could be erased). NO! Not for over $100, I am not having writing. Knock it down to 50%, and we'll talk.
