  1. So sorry to read this about your DH. Prayers for your family and a full recovery for him.
  2. My daughter loves to play with the miniature American Girl dolls. She puts them in her life size dollhouse. They cost approx. $22/each.
  3. Usually carrots have a vinegar/wine smell when they are really rotton.
  4. I let my little ones drink a cup of iced green tea a few times each week. They will have it with lunch or dinner. Whole Foods has a green, cranberry & pomegranite that I really like.
  5. Ricki’s Marvelous Maple Flax Cookies 1/2 cup rolled oats 1 Tbsp coconut oil 3 Tbsp pure maple syrup 1 Tbsp Sucanat or other unrefined evaporated cane juice 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract 2 Tbsp (30 ml) finely ground flax seeds 3 Tbsp whole flax seeds 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp baking powder 1/8 tsp fine sea salt Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Mix all ingredients together with hands or spoon Dollop about 1 Tbs worth onto cookie sheet and form into cookie shape- not too thin though as they do flatten as they cook Bake for about 10-12 minutes.
  6. They get this flax oil in their fresh juice every morning. http://www.barleans.com/flax-oil.asp
  7. I do a lot of the same things you do. I took all our toxic household cleaning stuff to the HazBin place. I now use all natural cleaning products & skincare. I go to the gym and eat mostly whole foods & very little meat. Fresh spinach, pineapple, goji berry & flaxoil juice every morning. For those interested in more natual cleaning, the following are GREAT I think: *For windows & mirrors, I mix 3/4 white vinegar, 1/4 water & 25 drops of essential lemon oil in a spray bottle. *Bathtub & shower, I use baking soda & dish soap which makes it really clean & shiny. *Hardwood floors, applecider vinegar & water. *Sanitize & disinfect, I use hydrogen peroxide and keep it in the dark container it comes in. I use a spray top from one of the empty bottles you can buy. Most will fit on the hydrogen peroxide bottle. This is great for spraying down countertips, toilet seats etc... You can also buy hydrogen peroxide wipes for quick cleanup jobs around the bathroom.
  8. My twin boy's did that a lot at 2 & 3 years old. They would bring me a letter from a puzzle or the fridge and say the sound instead of the letter. They are in K now and actually reading on a 3rd grade level. At 4 is when they started learning the actual letter names. :)
  9. I'm looking for a recipe OR a good suggestion from one of the more "natural" store brands. :)
  10. 90 – 119 Mmm! Love that whole-grain crunch! :)
  11. If she is able to keep fluids down and resting then I wouldn't. Unless she is having respiratory issues etc...
  12. Heart of Dakota has definitely blessed our family. I love snuggling on the couch reading History, Science & Bible together. We memorize scripture each week with our lessons and I love that. Another thing we do as a family once each week is have communion together. There is special juice and crackers that have been prayed over and we only use it for our prayer/communion time. My children are very young but I have explained the meaning of what we are doing and why. We also have special little fancy glasses that are only used for this. I think it really is something they will look back on and see as a very special family time. It has been such a blessing to our family.
  13. Coffee is the only thing that would make me panic. I must have it as soon as I wake up. Everything else will be ok until I make it to the store. :)
  14. Desert Essence jojobo oil mixed with baking soda as a scrub. Bragg's apple cider vinegar mixed with water 1/2 & 1/2 ratio as a toner. It MUST be Bragg's vinegar because it's not pasturized like Heinz and you will see the difference just by looking at it in the bottle. :) I get the jojobo oil at Whole Foods Mkt. Some grocery stores may sell it in the healthy section.
  15. Today we stayed in our jammies the entire day and watched Little House dvd's. Just a very relaxed at home Saturday for us. Now they are eating popcorn in my room with their sleeping bags.
  16. If you're just getting results, why not have them just mail and call to discuss? My dr. did that for my annual checkup back in June. I would not go into the office unless I absolutely had to go during flu season. :)
  17. I thought I had read you can enter your own set of problems if you wanted. I just got mine and still have not figured this out. I would like to enter CLE's flashcards covered so far with my DD in 1st grade.
  18. We have one of those Vicks Vapor Machines that you can get at a drug store etc... They work GREAT! You put the little patch in and the machine warms it when you plug it in. I don't hear another peep out of mine for the entire night. I keep their bedroom door cracked so most of the scent stays in the room. I also get BABY Vicks rub or something similar and rub on their pajama shirt if it's a really bad cough. I don't usually have to do this because the machine works so good. :001_smile: I NEVER give them cough medicine.
  19. We have a huge playroom downstairs that I could easily turn part of it into a school area but I don't want to. Our living room, kitchen & dining room is very open so we mostly use the kitchen table. I like having the kid's there while I'm cooking or making snacks. We have a whiteboard on the wall where they can all see from the table. Also, our kitchen has an extra big closet so I keep all our supplies & books in there. It just works out perfect really. Sometimes we like to go to the couch for read alouds and different things. I don't really want a "schoolish" feeling either though.
  20. There is no way my 5 year old twin boy's could do that for copy work either. ;) Th:001_smile:nks everyone for your input!
  21. This is really the only writing she does. We don't do it throughout the day. I feel better now that I have an idea anyway. Thanks! :)
  22. No, it's not her first, but this is what we average everyday. I just didn't want to be doing too much. I really want to keep 1st grade as relaxed as possible. :001_smile:
  23. We are using HOD Little Hearts. I usually type up a key idea from the HOD guide in our Startwrite program. Here is an example of what I might have her copy and then draw a picture depicting at the top of the page. The wise men followed a bright star until they found baby Jesus in Bethlehem. They brought Jesus expensive gifts. The reason I ask is because the samples I looked at in WWE were so much shorter. My friend is a K teacher in PS and they do soooooo much writing. I'm not trying to do what PS does but am curious since I'm new (2nd year) to homeschooling and insecure. :)
  24. We are using it for 1st grade and really like it. I'm horrible at math and really appreciate how CLE is so scripted and easy to follow. :)
