  1. tells the different sounds all the letters, consonant teams make? For example~that the letter A makes 3 different sounds and will tell what they are. :001_huh:
  2. Just curious. My daughter started CLE 1st this school year and I was wondering how similiar it was to PS 1st grade math (minus the Godly content of course).
  3. My 3 are using LHFHG together and we like it. My boy's are doing the Singapore K math but I put my daughter in CLE for 1st this year. I need a very scripted math program so that is why I switch them after K. :001_huh:
  4. My daughter was 6 in March. I use the Startwrite program and type up a key idea from the HOD Bible/History lesson which is usually 2-3 sentences. There is space at the top of the paper for her to draw a picture depicting it. She also does her CLE 1st grade math. This is all the writing I have her do for now. Her letter formation is very good so I need to move on to having her copy the sentences vs. tracing. I love this idea too. :001_smile:
  5. Tina, thank you so much for all the terrific input and information. I REALLY appreciate all you had to say. :) I have 3 that will be using the program on the same level and am soooooo tempted to just get it and get started right away. I love how it covers so many aspects of LA.
  6. I am having such a hard time finding many opinions on this. It looks amazing and I would love to try it. It's expensive so I need input before commiting. :001_smile:
  7. Do you have your child do the entire lesson plus the I CAN DO THIS and JUST FOR FUN at one sitting, or are you breaking it up?
  8. I'm not sure if my kid's need this or not. My twins definitely need practice on forming letters. They are reading but we need to continue with phonics instruction. My boy's are in K and daughter in 1st.
  9. So that's what is wrong with me! :D I graduated in 87' from a tiny private christian school.
  10. Thank you so much for all the information! :001_smile: I would love to see a demo class and will contact them to see if it's available.
  11. There is a local pharmacist here in our town that also specializes in alternative supplements etc... I asked him about taking cod liver oil and he doesn't recommend it. He told me that the liver is what filters out toxins and you could be doing more harm than good by taking this. :001_huh:
  12. I read about this here but can't seem to find any other opinions or reviews about it. I am HORRIBLE at math myself and will not be able to teach it. This seems interesting and I'm torn between trying to use this with Singapore or just going with CLE. Any input? :lurk5:
  13. This taste much better! It's really good on popcorn or baked potatos.
  14. 2 cups every morning with organic half & half & turbinado sugar. I agree about the warm, sweet, creamy drink being so good when I first wake up. I could never drink it black! :tongue_smilie:
  15. I thought with CLE, you only use LTR or the LA. I didn't think they were meant to use together. I thought after the LTR was completed then they moved on to the LA portion.
  16. Just curious if you use the program, do you make any changes for the suggested math or phonics/language arts? If so, what do you use?
  17. Hi, I have twin boy's that will be in K and my daughter in 1st. We are also using HOD Little Hearts for His Glory. :001_smile: My boy's will do the Singapore Earlybird math, but for my daugher going into 1st, I'm going to switch her to CLE math. It's very scripted and open and go. I am also going to use CLE language arts for her as well. They are revising this subject and the new version will not be out until May or June I think. Right now, we have the Startwrite program installed on our computer and I type & print key ideas from the HOD lesson and then she will trace or copy the text. Then she will draw a picture above the text describing what our lesson was about. We keep these in protective sheets and place in her journal binder. For some reason I didn't like the Reason for Handwriting "A" that comes with HOD so I do this for handwriting practice instead.
  18. My twin boy's will be in K and my daughter in 1st. For Science, History & Bible we are using Heart of Dakota (Little Hearts for His Glory). My boy's will do the Singapore Earlybird math since CLE does not offer a K math. My daughter will do CLE 1st grade math. I will continue phonics instruction with Phonics Pathways. I'm not sure if my daughter will place somewhere in CLE Learning To Read, or if she will go into the language arts program. Lot's of field trips and adventure time, read alouds & playing.
  19. There are no samples and I was wondering if it was a good program for K & 1st graders. http://www.clp.org/store/by_course/86
  20. I am using http://www.heartofdakota.com/ Little Hearts for His Glory for my 6 year old daughter and twin boy's that will be 5 next month. It is such a sweet little program and we are loving it. :001_smile: Very gentle but makes for wonderful conversations and activities.
  21. My twin boy's and daughter really like this book. This is plenty I think for us and we focus more on the necessary subjects. I also let them do craft stuff that involves cutting & pasting etc...
  22. My daughter turned 6 last month and my twin boy's will be 5 next month. We are using Heart of Dakota. I use my Startwrite program and type up one of the "key ideas" from the teacher guide for them to copy or trace. I put the text or lines at the bottom of the page and then they draw their own picuture of what the text is about/describing in the blank space above. It's always based on what we have learned in our lessons. Then we put the sheets in page protectors and place in a binder that is their "journal" for K/1st grade. Also, for the front cover of the binder, I had them write their "Names" and "Journal" and then they put handprints on the paper from ink pads that I have. I think it will be really cool for them to look back one day at their K/1st grade journal and see how little their hands were, how their writing skills looked, and also their artwork. :001_smile:
