  1. My son is the same way. We are all over the house when we school. I just let him do it. It drives me nuts!! But as long as he is learning and doing all his work I will learn to deal with it. Now this may sound crazy but sometimes I give him a half cup of coffee. For some reason it calms him down. I just figured this out a few weeks ago. Some days I give him some and some I don't. I don't really like the idea of him having coffee. But I guess if it works a little won't be to bad.
  2. I love cleaning!!! I think I may have a touch of OCD.. LOL To me it's like therapy. I turn on some music and go at it. I love the feeling of my house being clean. I love that my husband comes home from work and tells me the house looks good. I do most of my thinking and planing when i'm cleaning. Plus when I mention the word cleaning in my house everybody splits. Then I get the whole house to myself and thats a BIG plus.
  3. I guess mine would be patience too. I have never had enough. When I first started homeschooling 3 years ago I was told I didn't have enough to do it. Here I am 3 years later still homeschooling. For me Patience was something that I had to learn. I still haven't mastered it yet. But I'm a long way from where I was.
  4. How did you register yourself as a church school? We are moving to North Mobile Al. We have been here off and on for about 2 years. My husband is working at one of the plants here.
  5. Thank you guys.. This is what I was looking for. Now off to do some research. :)
  6. This is just crazy!!!! http://www.hslda.org/elert/archive/2011/08/20110801141830.asp
  7. Hello all. Right now I'm under Missouri homeschool law. We are moving to Alabama. I went to hslda.org and from what I understand I have to go through a charter school. Can somebody give me any info on this. Thank you so much.
  8. I use christian light for our reading, math, science, and lang arts. I love it! For history this year I think i'm going to start using Mystery of History. I have heard really good things about it. Plus its something I can do with both of the kids. I may end up switching science to something I can do with both too. Good luck to you.
  9. This year for history I'm going to be using History of the world with my kids. I'm also looking for a non christian curriculum that I can use. Any ideas? My kids are ages 10 and 9. One is going into 2nd and other in the 5th. The only reason I'm wanting a non christian one is because for the past 3 years that I have been homeschooling all of our social studies/history curr has been based on the bible. I feel like she is lacking in other parts. Thanks for all your help. Doniell
  10. Does the books get harder each year? I guess i'm worried if my youngest will be able to go into the 2nd,3rd and the 4th book at the end of the years and understand it. I hope you understand what I'm saying. LOL I'm so confussed.
  11. I am looking into changing our science and history curriculum. Right now I'm using christian light. I love there reading, math, and language arts. There science and history is not working for us at all. My kids find it boring. My kids are in 2nd and 5th grade. I'm looking for something that I can use for both of them. I haven't really looked into science yet but for history i'm looking at Mystery of History. I know they have 3 volumes right now with the 4th one in the works. This would work out perfect with my daughter who is going into 5th grade. By time she is done with the books she will be in high school. Now how would this work with my 2nd grader? Do I start the same with him as I do with her? Will I have to go back and redo the books so he will learn a little more and understand it better at an older age? I looked at the sample pages and I think this is what we are looking for. I was kinda of confused at what all I should order for the first year starting. For those of you who are using this, what do you recommend I buy for our first year of starting it? Also what would be a good science curriculum that I could use for them together as well?
  12. Thank you guys! Can't wait to get some stuff and get started.
  13. I am thinking about starting to do sign language with my kids. Does anybody on the boards do it? If so what do you use and do you know of any websites that teach it? My kids are ages 6 & 9. Thanks, Doniell
  14. I always heard that drinking cranberry juice would work. Hope you get to feeling better.
