  1. I'm considering "tutoring" a friend's child with reading this summer. I've taught both of my kids to read well, they are now in high school and college and I need something to do! This child has no developmental delays preventing him from reading, he is a youngest child and has somewhat fallen throigh the cracks. However he is older than my children were in beginning reading. Are there materials available for the older reader that he would find more interesting? Any suggestions on ways to make it fun would be great! Thanks
  2. I like kaboom. The product seems to work
  3. Does he drink diet pop? Just told this week how aspartame poisoning mimics ms symptoms. I know this is off topic, but I thought I'd share.
  4. As much as I disagree with only two piece options, this is a business. Shouldn't they be allowed to require whatever they want within safety standards? The girl has the option to not work there. If this is their standard, should they be forced to change? It just calls up to mind theme restaurants with skimpy uniforms...you know that's what you wear, so if you disagree, you don't work there.
  5. May I just say that I am super lonely! My husband has been gone in the Middle East for 3 months now, my eldest is at college. My youngest. 15, is awesome, but it's just still lonely. I'm feeling a huge lack of friends right now (who understand the loneliness of military life) - dh is a reservist who is activated - so nobody around is a military wife who needs companionship. Loneliness and responsibility is wearing me down. I'll be better in an hour or two, but right now I'm lonely!
  6. Ooh! Another product I love from Chagrin Valley is their makeup remover butter. Comes in a jar. You scoop it out with a little bamboo scoop that you buy extra for under a dollar. It is awesome. And you simply must try the butter bars for the shower. Another favorite product!
  7. Aruba! Stayed in a nice condo in Oranjastad. Very tourist friendly and safe. We snorkeld in the pristine waters, took a catamaran out, the ocean is amazing there! Beaches are gorgeous. Very laid back atmosphere. Moderately expensive, but not prohibitively so. Not overly commercialized at every beach, can still find a wild beach. Fun to off road, they do 4 wheeler and/or jeep tours. Awesome weather - very dry not humid. Water is great to drink out of the faucet. Nice local people. Great night life if that's your thing.
  8. I am 48. I really am liking their Complexion Rescue tinted hydrating cream (bare minerals) and do put it on with the brush they sell with it - makes a world of difference. I have recent purchased Chagrin Valley whipped squalene mousse for my moisturizer. It is awesome! It is all natural and comprised of a mixture of whipped Shea and olive. It goes on moist but disappears immediately. I've noticed my fine lines looking better! Chagrin Valley Soaps and Salves is where you get it online. It is an all natural line and this tub cost approx $12 - I think? Maybe less. I'm currently addicted to all of their moosturizers!
  9. Totally off topic, but can a child that has blocked memories ever get them back? I'm 48, and basically can't remember my childhood. My parent fought a lot and there was a lot of strife with siblings. I would like to remember though. Joann?
  10. My only caution on the Toyota would be if it's the same model year, and has the same mileage as the Dodge, there might be an issue. It should be more expensive than the Dodge, resale-wise, all things being equal. Perhaps a Pilot like a previous poster mentioned? Should get you a bit more gas mileage.
  11. I've recently purchased Chagrin Valley Squalene mousse eye and face cream. It's 100% natural and it's inexpensive (under $10, I think) and it's really taking my fine lines away. It's from Chagrin Valley Soap and salves.
  12. Update on my day 5 - I have lost 6.6 pounds! Now I'm on the 13 day diet! I am super motivated and have not cheated, except I've had a sinus infection and have had Diet Dr. pepper because it clears out my throat.
  13. I am loving bare minerals bb cream. Have you gone to one of their storefronts or sephora?
  14. I know that I'm totally new to this diet, but I have successfully completed day 1. Why am I excited? It seems like I can make it till about 4pm and blow the whole day. Not today! Now I'm in the 16 day diet! That sounds a whole lot smaller.
  15. We just moved from a 5 br/ 31/2 ,farmhouse to a 3 br/ 2 1/2 bath exposed ranch. Everything my husband and I need is upstairs. Both secondary bedrooms are on the Lower level. One of the bedrooms is huge with a efficiency kitchen. There is also a huge family room down there. So hopefully that sets us up well for a bunch of visits!
  16. I hope your headache isn't from the diet, mbut I have heard of low carb flu- which is how you feel when you go low carb at first. I am starting day 1 of the diet today. Made a little chart for menu and exercise plans for the 17!days. I have 40 (yikes!!! Where did that come from?) pounds to lose. I'll need at least one cycle of cycle one, maybe two? Feeling hopeful!
  17. Maxed out on stress today, too. :(. But the day involved making sure I took my kids, specifically my college freshman on spring break so he'd want to hang with us instead of getting to go off with college friends. So I decided to travel via non-rev air travel to a state many states away where we have dear friends. Got lost going to major airport long term parking. Found it, whew! Gate attendant lost our itineraries when she put us in seats, and due to non-revving we were already the last in the airplane! The next connecting flight was over sold, so we decided the best thing would be to drive to our final destination 4 hours from the 2nd airport of the day. Airlines lost and had no record of one son's luggage. That one son had thought it would be funny to steal other son's shoe and put in his luggage, so we would have one son with nothing, and another son with no shoes! Thank God they found all of our luggage and we proceed to rental car company. Rental car is twice what we rented for in another city. I nearly cried. But put on big girl panties and cancelled that reservation and found one a little cheaper. Drive 4 hours in Ford Focus hatchback (cute and fun to drive and surprisingly spacious). Get to destination, buy groceries, and while unloading, one son locks us out of the condo were renting. Have to drive 20 minutes back to owner to get another key. My confession??? I want to go home, cry in my bed and drink myself silly. But instead, I will channel someone else and be a fun, outgoing mom and make this a good vacation that we all need!
  18. I hated my rainbow and sold it fairly cheaply on Craigslist. Maybe buying one from there would be a more affordable option? Please know if you let the water sit in the tank you have a disgusting mess overnight!
  19. I'm sorry to say, but in our experience, an internally broken egg is usually fatal :(
  20. Black is worse than stainless in regards to keeping clean!
  21. Comment on Airedales and Standard Poodles - I have had both. Both need regular haircuts -every 6-8weeks to look great (I like them lookng great!). Poodles are way more affectionate than Airedales. I loved our Airedale, but she patrolled our property and absolutely did not like cuddling even though she loved us and lived in the house. The poodle is a snuggler, but not brave like the Airedale. Airedales have very strong personalities and need a strong Alpha personality to get a good dog. I think I'm going to have more of a heart connection with our poodle. She has energy through the roof, though. Needs a good strong 1/2 hour of exercise a day at least!
  22. Lipsticks. Glosses. The fancy blistex tubes at Walmart checkouts. They are awesome!
  23. IHave them take a state Id from the dmv m
