  1. Dried apple slices with just the slightest sprinkle of cinnamon sugar are to die for! Dried peaches- delish! Banana chips are good too. Dried mushrooms, dried peppers, carrots, onions for soups. I love my dehydrator!
  2. I honestly think I am ready to be done homeschooling. My youngest is a freshman and we typically enroll In the community college in Junior year, so I've got itchy feet!
  3. I have major school burnout! Actually laughingly thought fondly of boarding school today!
  4. Thanks for, your information! I will pass it on to her. As far as waiting goes - no excuses- but they have 8 children and have been pretty busy. He has always been homeschooled and they have managed him pretty well so far, but now the child is realizing he needs the help they were trying to provide for him (and he rejected). Sometimes you get better results when the person you're trying to help actually wants the help! Thanks again.
  5. I have a wonderful friend who has a fantastic 21 year old son. He is mildly aspergers is now facing some limiting realities such as not being able to pass tests at his place of business due to test anxiety, etc. She really wants to try to get a solid diagnosis so he can get an IEP to help with testing should he decide to go to a university - the kid is brilliant - and to try to get him help re: testing just to help in normal life. Any suggestions, resources, etc would be graciously accepted. Thank you!
  6. We are the senior members of the family on our side. That's why we want to spend so much. We want to have a great gift as the aunts.
  7. Just wanted to thank you ! I am going to put together the white clothesline basket! It sounds great! Thanks so much!
  8. I'm near you! Roscoe!

I'm in Freeport but have friends in Rockford. Do you know Doug and Patty Pann? (Not homeschoolers but thought you might know them)

  9. I don't think they are... They're 32 and make a lot of $. Nephew is only child, she is only girl out of 2.
  10. Invited to my niece and nephew's baby shower. They're yuppies and have tons of $$. Read high end baby shower. My sister and I feel that $200 for the gift is plenty. Help me create a showstopping gift so we don't look ridiculously cheap, please! Thanks.
  11. We sold our home and are closing on the new house on Wednesday! The previous owner is so nice he moved out to be with his family and we are moving in all this week. We love the new place and I hope the "kids" who bought are place are equally happy. I think I've gained at least 10 pounds during this experience. I've been under a ridiculous amount of stress since May. Can't wait to settle in, exercise and relax by the creek! Ds 18, fresh at uni, is blossoming and doing well. Went to see him. Miss him to a but am very proud. Little bro,14, is settling in and is super independent this year which helps tremendously with the move. The classical academy (2 day a week) that I put him in is awesome. Smiles every day. Enough sunshine and rainbows. There's some other downer stuff, but this is what I'm clinging to!
  12. Taste of homes chocolate celebration cake. Bar none - best choc cake ever!
  13. We have indeed verified the manufacturing date. Queenkath, wouldn't it tick you off after spending $7k to find out it's almost a decade old unit?
  14. Just frustrated. It was a 100* day, my husband was out of the country, and he's been our a/c heat guy for 13 years! He kept talking about his marine corps son (my husband is in the Marines) and I truly just feel stupid and duped.
  15. I would say our col is not that high here. It is a big unit - 5 ton. Still in shock...
  16. We represented the a/c as new to new owners scheduled to close. Their inspector caught that it is a model from 2005.
  17. My husband just spoke with him and said "we don't just have 2005's laying around." $5k was for installation too
  18. My husband just spoke with him and said "we don't just have 2005's laying around."
  19. Yes I do have a booklet and the model number on the unit says 2005. However, it doesn't say "2005 Lenox a/c" the model number indicates the age. Not knowing how to read the age of the unit based on a serial number, I took him at his word that it was a new machine.
  20. Hi, we are feeling very cheated. My husband was out of town, our air conditioner broke and we had our "trusted" a/c guy come look and replace it. He said, "I have a scratch and dent one that is perfect and it'll be less expensive and it doesn't show any problems." Ok, so we went with it. Fast forward- we have just discovered that he replaced our a/c unit with a unit made in 2005!!! It's almost 10 years old! No disclosure - it may have been not used, but still, it's 10 years old!!! And it was $5000. Anyone know if we have a legal leg to stand on?
  21. Yes, midcentury modern! It's a ranch from the front and a two story from the back- floor to ceiling glass - two stories of it. It also has a two story stone wall that starts at the ceiling of the upstairs, goes through the floor and is ds in the basement - has a fireplace in it in each floor. It was built in the '70's by an executive so it has a "mod" floor plan - super cool. Love it!
  22. I'm super excited about the new house. Midcentury modern! I've always been in love with that style! We are downsizing due to our eldest going to college - so we'll no longer have to mow for 4+ hours, I won't have to walk past empty bedrooms (my eldest's room will so be the guest room and otherwise no empty rooms!), lots less house to clean! And we get an office so the paperwork will be out of the kitchen! Yippee!
