  1. I ordered from Angel Food this month. I ordered 2 units and a special #5, if this works I will save 1/2 on this months grocery bill:)
  2. I have a very sensitive ds who is 8, and he has been very close friends with my best friends son, who is also 8. I have noticed for several years that her ds was well....different. Not in a bad way though, he has always been very sweet and respectful at my home. He has what I would consider a moderate speech issue and can be really hard to understand. He has become a vegetarian by personal choice my bf is not, but he is almost obsessed by it. He stands very close to my ds and wants to hug and hold hands (something that really bothers my ds). He has explosive angry outbursts that are very unpredictable and are disproportionate to the situation. His gross motor skill is very delayed and he is possessive of my sons attention when they are in a group situations. My df just started to have him evaluated and they are leaning to him having Aspberger's Syndrome. I know this is, by far, much harder to deal with than the issue of my son not wanting to hang around him anymore but, I want to avoid any hurt feelings. I have been very hush, hush about my bf's son because I did not want to taint a longtime friendship between her ds and mine. But my ds is starting to notice his behavior. He asked me the other day why he stands so close and is always touching him. Why does he get so angry at his little sister? He said they really don't have anything in common anymore and he really is sick of talking about Star Wars ALL the time. When he comes over my ds plays legos with him for hours to be polite. Although my ds loves legos, after about an hour he wants to play basketball, baseball anything. But his bf will just focus on the legos the whole time. He has been asking to have other friends over and has not been asking for this friend anymore:crying::crying: I am so sad for my bf and her sweet little guy, I don't know how to help her.So here we are and I know it's time to discuss it with my ds. I don't want to make my df's son sound bad or wrong even though at times his behavior is. I want my son to want to be friends with him, because it's the right thing to do. Has anyone had to address a situation like this. My bf is really oblivious to the differences. For whatever reason it became really more apparent this year to her but it's been a while for me. Anyway, it there a way to save this friendship other than saying you have to be friends because " I say so?" TIA
  3. How old is he? What are you using for a source text?
  4. My dd works from 7:30-1:30 with 1 hour of lunch and breaks.
  5. I forget who recommended this to me a couple of years ago, someone from the old WTM board of course:001_smile:. I love this, I had to use it because my oldest did horrible on this section in the IOWAS and since then she get 100 correct. It's called Maps, Charts and Graphs I linked it to Pearsons because they have samples, I bought it cheaper at RR.
  6. How about 101 Experiments for Every Kid or CKEC personally I have on my wish list this by SEELA Good Luck! Hey there is also 2 God's Design for Chemistry by AIG and A Atoms one by Great Science Adventures.
  7. Oh my,now I have frosting all over my face. Yummmmm:001_rolleyes:
  8. I'll take a stab at it, assuming a traditional scope and sequence I would say early middle school advanced 5th-7th. Is this a test, if so did I win anything?:leaving:
  9. Being a Spanish speaker it's one of those things that is a little hard on the ears.:) JK....It definitely makes the language sound a little funny, it's hard to explain. It's probably similar to what southerners sound like to easterners and vice versa, you can immediately tell they are not from the area. I wouldn't say it's horrible the words are still the same words even without rolling the r's. I would be picky if the language being learned was to be a paid translator but other than that...not really a big deal IMHO.
  10. Hey, I can't rep you in itrader because it's asking for the post URL and I can't find it. Help!

  11. I am on year 7 with SWR, I have altered it for each kiddo, but it still works likes charm.

I modified the lasson plans below for home use ;) Paper Bag Book Report After selecting and reading a book independently, students will create a paper bag book report using an ordinary paper bag. Students should choose five-seven items to place in the bag to represent significant events or characters from the book. For example, "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" might call for a soupspoon, a thermometer, a piece of dollhouse furniture, an ad for running shoes, etc. Students, after filling and decorating their bags, present them to the class. Each student should explain how the items he or she has chosen relate to the book. This makes for a fun oral presentation which exceeds the traditional book report for both the presenter and the audience. Lesson Concepts and Materials: Independent book selection, independent reading, analysis of plot, character and/ or theme, oral presentation. Paperbags (large). Procedures: Each student chooses and reads a book over several weeks of a picture book for youngers. Students analyze their books' characters, plots, themes, etc. A already made sample works great for the kids to "SEE" the end result. I did mine form the picture book " The Selfish Giant". Students devise written plans for their bag book reports, detailing five to seven items for the inside as well as layouts for each part of the outside.I require title, author, and publisher on the front; an internal conflict on the left side; an external conflict on the right side; or a favorite scene on the back. Kids present their projects, in detail, to the family- first explaining the outside of their bags and then explaining each of the items inside. Questions from the family should be encouraged.
  13. I would suggest LOF Fractions after 4b LOF Decimals and Percents inbetween 5A and 5B or after 5B. Then if you wanted to supplement NEM 1 you could alternate with weeks of LOF Beginning Algebra and move into LOF Advanced Algebra in NEM 2 with LOF Geometry. HTH's
  14. Not sure what age your looking for, but how about Logic Comes in Two Flavors
  15. I was thinking the same thing, my ds is asymptomatic with double ear infections:001_huh: (I'd pick him up)
  16. I've used the K-6th BJU, 2nd edition. I just bought the workbooks for my other 2 for those levels in the 2nd edition. I did have the K 3rd edition and it's brighter, pictures updated and the TM is a little more streamlined and easier to implement but, I did not notice any foundational/concept changes. My kids have VERY different learning styles and ALL 3 are doing exceptionally well using this as our basal program:)

  19. Sorry Lisa, my bad here is the info: Home Study Companion - Algebra I Three CD Roms containing computer video lessons to accompany each section in Algebra I: Expressions, Equations, and Applications, by Paul A. Foerster. (The text must be obtained separately. The video series was designed to accompany the Prentice Hall Classics version of the text (see Prentice Hall Classics), but it will work well with earlier editions of the text as well (see Amazon.com). Total price: $59 + sales tax in California Shipping Charge: $5 (priority mail) in the US (Cost of shipping will be computed and added to the charge for international orders) I always say DVD instead of CD :blushing:
  20. I myself was flipping between Dolcaini and Foresters. We decided on Foresters , I got the text on Amaxon for $10 with shipping, and purcheded the Homes Study Companion DVD's (waiting for them to come) for $59. Here is a review I found with a great description of the program.
