Why men are hard to help
Lilaclady replied to Roadrunner's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
I don’t think it is much easier. Maybe a little bit but not that much. Most girls applying to top schools tend to be quite strong but boys even when they are not very strong will apply to top schools so there are mostly more boys than girls which skews the acceptance rates. ( but we all know it’s all a lottery anyways) -
Skipping foreign language
Lilaclady replied to Reader411's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
Some colleges will accept ASL and my state even allows computer Lang to fulfill foreign Lang requirements but like a PP said, I’ll wait till 11th to make the decision because if he does not need it, there is no point. There are so many other things that he can work on that will be in his strength than trying to meet a requirement that is not there. -
Getting a newer car to fit everyone or not? Need help. Thoughts?
Lilaclady replied to matrips's topic in The Chat Board
We got an SUV after our last minivan had transmission issues. I didn’t want another minivan as the kids are in high school and will soon be going to college. I figured the daily savings on gas will more than make up for the 1 or 2 times we may need a minivan. Twice we had almost rented a van- one for move in for my oldest and one when we took a road trip to DC but we all did fine and didn’t need to rent a minivan. we do have a second car that my middle daughter and husband drives. -

AP exams timing and locations?
Lilaclady replied to Mom_to3's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
The college board usually release the AP exam schedule early- by late summer so that may help with scheduling. Here, AP exam scheduling is getting harder so more homeschoolers are going DE route and most schools don’t allow homeschoolers to do alternate testing dates so you need to plan carefully. -
I would just advise against it. They get really neaty picky about each topic you need to cover and how you cover it and you only get 3 tries to get approval. I will just advise adopting one of theirs that is closest to what you want to do and do what you want to do anyway. No one is coming back to check in if you did everything exactly as stated in the course description.

Also check out the college social groups. Some of them have closets where students donate formal wear for job interviews or dinners etc. he might be able to pick up something from there.

I don’t think so for cs. Most schools will like to expand but can’t find faculty as it pays far better in industry than in academia.
