  1. Sorry, I missed answering this post. Yes we did hard boil the eggs first.
  2. Oh, I didn't know there was an updated version. I need to read more on this forum. I got the old version (I think) in the mail today and I absolutely love it.
  3. Not exactly natural, but my kids just painted eggs with their watercolor set. They came out really pretty.
  4. I have the chopper thing. It was super expensive but I use it almost everyday to chop onions and garlic.
  5. I take both the boys (6 & 4 yo) to the bathroom around 11pm before I got to bed. This does the trick for us.
  6. Kids tucked into bed? Check. Yoga completed? Check. Tea brewed? Check. Ah, the day is done. Although, if I would have remembered to start a load of laundry, I could be hanging it right now. Well, there's always tomorrow. It's time for Mama to :chillpill:
  7. Is yoga. But I'm sitting here reading all sorts of threads that don't pertain to me at all. Kick me off! What should you be doing?
  8. My son started taekwondo last month and we couldn't be more pleased with the class. The teachers are amazing and I really feel we lucked out. The teachers really try to be strong role models for the kids and they take that very seriously. They are firm but patient and encouraging. There is no board breaking in my sons class. I didn't know that was part of taekwondo.
  9. Holy guacamole! Now there's a predicament. Hopefully there will be an agreeable resolution for current ticket holders.
  10. I used to have something similar when I was young and it was related to low blood sugar in the morning. I was so hungry when I woke up that it felt like a really bad stomach ache and I felt like I couldn't eat. Well, it took me a long time to figure out the pain was caused by hunger. Do you think something similar could be happening?
  11. Do the English consider themselves Europeans? ;)
  12. Why not move to cursive? I moved to HWOT cursive before my son turned 7 and he's doing really well with it. His cursive is much nicer and neater than his printing. My son also struggled earlier with proper pencil grip and has some fine motor issues so it isn't like he's gifted with writing or anything. I vote move on to cursive.
  13. This is exactly the response I would have had. Gross. Who knows where the meat came from (wasn't there a meat recall recently?) and who know how the meat was handled after it was butchered. Gross, gross, gross. Aside from that, I personally don't purchase anything that is solicited at my door.
  14. I agree. My plan is also to keep my kids at a level in each area that provides them with challenging yet attainable goals. I don't think that learning happens linearly in all areas at all times. Some subjects will flow easier and faster than others and that's ok.
  15. If your son is allergic to eggs then perhaps the cooking utensils or cooking pan had been used with eggs previously and that was enough to set off a reaction. Pad Thai normally has egg in it and they don't wash the pans in between each order, yk?
  16. I agree with this. I started getting palpitations that cleared up as soon as I started taking Mg supplements.
  17. A good day is when I feel like I accomplished something. Mostly, if I was able to get at least one load of laundry done, cooked a nutritious hot meal and did my exercise for the day I feel pretty good. I'm really sorry to hear about those who deal with health issues on a daily basis. My heart goes out to you.
  18. We are using HWOT cursive for my 6yo boy who struggled last year with basic pencil grip and has horrible printing. It is so easy to implement and his cursive is amazingly neat. I normally think teacher's manuals are redundant but the one for the cursive has cute little sayings to help the child remember proper letter formation. I am not going to use the capitals that are shown in HWOT cursive. I'm going to just have my son use printed capitals.
  19. My 6yo does one page everyday 6 days a week. His printing is horrible but we are doing cursive now and his writing is much much better.
  20. Scroll down this blog to the post titled "rendering lard". The butcher won't think you're weird. Just ask for some pork fat for rendering.
  21. You can always render your own lard too. I always buy the fat at the organic butcher. I do have a egg and milk free zucchini bread recipe that comes out pretty good if you are interested. It's a bit dense but everyone here likes it.
