  1. I'm opposed to all sorts of things other people think are a-okay. ;) However, aside from the communicable diseases aspect, I have no problem with someone selling their breast milk to feed other babies. Seems like a good thing all around.
  2. Aww, thanks! I'm really glad you are enjoying it. :) happypamama, that is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this story. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  3. LOL, Rosie. Add me to the chorus of complainers who wish we could like your posts. :)
  4. That's an interesting way of looking at it, Rosie. I just can't get behind the idea that "god" is basically a concept that fulfills people's needs, when I know Him to be an actual, active, living Person. He is Who He is, not who I might make Him to be. I'm not a philosopher or an apologist, so I'll just leave it at that. :) Good luck on your book sorting!
  5. [NEW HAPPY NEWS DOWN THREAD :) :) :) ] Just because there are some random things I want to share. :) Honest Trailers finally did a trailer for The Princess Bride! Fun! A restaurant in Montreal gives free food to anyone who needs it. Those crazy Canadians. [Please note that they are also Muslim. And immigrants.] Some teenagers bought their classmate with special needs new tennis shoes, because his were 2 1/2 sizes too small. A group of Hutterite women made 588 quilts in one week to be sent to victims of disaster and war. Apparently they do this every year. An Indian software engineer cares for 735 abandoned dogs on a farm he made just for them. ETA: I forgot one! That's what I get for having so many tabs open. An 88-year-old man makes thousands of socks for the homeless. :thumbup1: What happy news have you heard recently?
  6. From what I understand, machine drying is the best way to kill germs, other than bleach. I'd wash on warm or hot (depending on what it was), maybe do an extra rinse, dry all the way on medium, and call it good.
  7. I would do both. I know a few older people who would be overwhelmed and horrified at the idea of buying something online, but I personally would prefer buying something from Amazon. I've become very lazy about actually going *out* to shop. :) ETA: Someone I know used babylist.com for a sort of universal registry. I think you can use it to put things from different stores (even places like Etsy) all on one list.
  8. Sorry, Rosie, I didn't mean to offend. You're right, of course, non-religious people have done that on this thread and elsewhere. I guess the idea that someone would recommend a religion to someone else when they personally believe it to be false (or, at least, imaginary) is a bit foreign to me. However, if one looks at religion as a way to meet personal needs, help others, find community, etc. rather than a way to know an actual, living God, than I can see why a non-religious person might recommend it to a friend.
  9. Oh, happypamama, it was such a privilege to be able to do something small for you. You are very welcome. I am almost never up so late, but last night I had terrible insomnia, for which I'm now very thankful. Thank you so much for sharing these precious moments with us. As another poster said, it has made more of an impact on me than you'll ever know. I am so very sorry for your loss, but praying you will comforted by the certainty of seeing Nathaniel again. May Jesus bless and comfort you and your family during this time of grief. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  10. It sounds like a textbook case of OCD. I second the recommendation for What to Do When Your Brain Gets Stuck. For more information, you might take a look at iocdf.org.
  11. Granola bar for breakfast. Regular bar for later. Massage. Private room and bathroom, scrupulously clean, comfortable. Quiet atmosphere. Water noise a plus...waves, fountains, or stream. HELL no to tents, group rooms, strangers*, and schedules. :) *Changed my mind--strangers are okay if I don't have to talk to them. :)
  12. Two versions of The Little Engine That Could here and Winnie the Pooh here, just in case you want to read to him.
  13. Sweet little babe! I'm so glad he knows you and feels your love. Thank you for sharing him with us. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: and prayers.
  14. Yes, SSRI's like Zoloft can cause aggression. I don't know anything about Intuniv. He might be able to tolerate another SSRI with no trouble. Definitely talk to his doctor. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  15. Praying for the peace which passeth understanding for all of you. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  16. Okay, fair enough, but I was responding to her last question, which perhaps was tacked on as an after-thought. :) Thank you for the compliment. It means a lot.
  17. I don't know if you're talking about me or not, but I like you, and I don't view your atheism as something like a disability. Who said this thread was specifically for atheists? ananemone asked, "Alternatively, is there a religion I could actually believe? I just don't see it." Who is going to reply to that question in the affirmative, other than religious people?
  18. I'm glad you were able to make it in to the vet. Hoping for a good outcome for your girl.
