  1. Thank you for reminding me of this. I did get at least one batch of clothes from thredUP that had quite a few items not measured correctly. It was annoying but they refunded me. Overall I've been pretty happy with them, though.
  2. Thanks! Do you have one??? The hip and length measurements are listed on thredUP. If only it were a Trekkie or a Firefly or a Supernatural dress...then I would snatch it up myself. 🙂
  3. I wish you could come over to my house to play with it, along with all the other Hive Fashion Plates fans! We could have a Fashion Plates party!!! If you ever have a granddaughter, I think you should buy one of the new sets for her. 🙂
  4. Thanks, @chocolate-chip chooky. So are you! 😎
  5. It exists! https://www.amazon.com/Barbie-Fashion-Horizon-Fashionista-Included/dp/B077B8DC2W/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2SZEKKCTTT9YT&keywords=barbie+fashion+toy&qid=1699041890&s=toys-and-games&sprefix=barbie+fashion+toy%2Ctoys-and-games%2C104&sr=1-3
  6. YES!!! I still have mine and the original expansion pack as well. My brother had the monsters one, too. I *loved* using the different texture plates when coloring the clothes. I also still have my "Great Greetings" set. A new Fashion Plates came out about 10 (?) years ago (not the Melissa and Doug one). They still make it, in five different styles.
  7. Spotted on thredUP for $19.99: Yes, this is random. 🙂
  8. Patterned black is fine. A black dress or skirt with another color cardigan / shrug / top is fine. Navy is fine. I just wouldn't do all black. You're good! 🙂
  9. A long time ago, when nieces / nephews / cousins were starting to arrive, my brother basically said, "We're not going to be buying for nieces / nephews / siblings anymore. Everyone else can do what they want." It was too costly for their family and was going to start to be overwhelming and stressful as well. My sister was happy because money was tight for her too. I was happy because it simplified things. They didn't worry about what anyone else did. They would not have cared if I continued to buy gifts for their kids, but they were not going to be able to do the same. It really just took someone saying, "We're going to be doing something different." On DH's side of the family, someone said, "We're going to draw names from now on." And we did. There were a couple people who continued to buy for all the kids for a few years. And then someone wanted to switch to a white elephant exchange. We did that for a while and it was fun. Now on both sides of the family, we buy for our parents and our parents buy for us and the grandkids. That's it. It's great. The kids still get fun things from Grandma and Grandpa but it's not a crazy amount of stuff.
  10. Thank you, @Catwoman. I'm sure it looks gorgeous!!! My parents are very frugal, but my mom always went all out for Christmas. I loved seeing the stacks of pretty gifts under the glow of the tree on Christmas morning. 🙂
  11. @Catwoman, I need to hear about your gift wrapping. Do you do them yourself? Matching / coordinating paper for all of them? Gift bags? I'm imagining doing curly ribbon on so many gifts... LOL. Inquiring minds want to know. 🙂
  12. DD15 usually gets 3-5 larger gifts and about 5 stocking stuffers from us. My MIL gives her one gift. My parents give her around 3 gifts, depending on how expensive they are. (They always spend the same amount on all the grandkids.) Her bestie usually gives her a small or handmade gift.
  13. 2 cups of coffee a day. Not really a tea drinker unless it's Throat Coat when I'm sick. I never drank any hot beverages until I was in my 30's, with the exception of hot chocolate once or twice a year.
  14. I heard part of the list on the radio the other day, too. It's ridiculous. I'd happily go to most of those places and enjoy myself. I do agree with family functions, hookah bars, and the gym. I would say that I agree with sporting events, but DH and I went to a high school basketball game for our first date (pizza at the local place first) and we've been together 33 years, so... 🙂 Honestly, throughout high school and college, I would have considered plenty of those restaurants "fancy." DH skipped lunch in high school so he could save his lunch money and take me out for fast food on the weekend. I didn't find out about it until years later. That's love. ❤️
  15. 40% of all used books. Free shipping on all orders over $15. I think I'm going to need to restrain myself. 🙂 https://www.betterworldbooks.com/ There are only about five hours left in the sale.
  16. I agree with you heartily. The trouble is this: a great many people still seem either ignorant of or unsympathetic to neurodiversity differences. I like messages that *remind* people to be sensitive and to THINK before, for example, scolding a child for not saying trick or treat. I wish people didn't have to be reminded, but that's the current state of things, at least where I live. Let's have the messaging for adults without directing attention to individual children. I appreciated those who made this point to me in the teal pumpkin thread.
  17. It's DD's first finals week in public school and I am so proud of how well she has adjusted. Guilty pleasure: Pumpkin Spice Frosted Flakes.
  18. 1. People might not want a reminder thrown up about this kind of stuff. Also, privacy concerns. 2. The Clubs can and do change quite a bit in a year's time. Clubs come and go and become inactive. 3. This is the type of thing that would be best answered in a new thread, I think. 4. My response likely would have been different if the thread were pinged by a real person and not a bot. 5. It's ultimately up to the mods what to do with the thread, but they seem to be wanting to lock old ones.
  19. I wore my "The Raven" Svaha dress (thank you eBay). DD wore her "So Many Arms for Hugging" spider tee (thank you TeeTurtle). How about you and yours? Pics welcome!!! Happy Halloween, all. 🎃👻🦇
  20. I am! Nothing like a little friendly contention on the board to liven up the day. 😉
  21. 😮 Wiki says bologna is a sausage. I would argue that while all hot dogs are sausage, not all sausages are hot dogs. Also according to Wiki: "In the Southern United States, a bologna cake exists which is bologna slices layered with seasoned cream cheese to make the appearance of a cake." And so I have to ask...is this really a cake? I'm going to say NO.
