  1. We do it on vacation, every time. We have an app on the phone that keeps up with it now. We enjoy it. :)
  2. I ordered this, stuck it on the side of my fridge, and it really helps! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000093L58/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  3. Anyone still going? I've both donated and sold this week, and still finding more. It is amazing to me that this just keeps going and going, it is never really "over".
  4. I got rid of a lot of things today. Kitchen stuff, clothes, furniture, toys, etc. This made a big difference in a lot of places, but one that I am really happy about right now is that DS's closet is finally down to a manageable, organized level. I tend to go super overboard on kids clothes so this is a big accomplishment for me. DD's is a work in progress. She is still using what we have, but I am slowing WAY down on I bring in, so it will even out. Anyway.... so much more to go, but I feel good about what I did today!
  5. You can't bring glass in the parks either, just to add to the list above. But a picnic is great if you are trying to save money since they allow food and drinks in the park. What about a taxi from one of the shuttle drop offs to a grocery store? Garden grocer might be easier. You can put some things in your suitcase as well, if you needed to (obviously not the fresh stuff). A lot of people do this though, with needing groceries while there, you should be able to find some great info at disboards!
  6. Something is better than nothing! You reminded me of this... “Be not afraid of going slowly; be only afraid of standing still.†– Chinese Proverb http://www.becomingminimalist.com/slow-guide-to-minimalism/
  7. Oh I am a nut about backing stuff up, really, I have like 3 back up copies of everything. LOL One my DH keeps at work so just in case there is a fire or something, I don't lose all of it.
  8. Digital. We are decluttering and that means everything. I do have a few that are hand written by my mom, and I'm keeping those in a box. I never use them, because I know them by heart, but I want them.
  9. In between. I am not completely laid back, but the situation you are describing wouldn't bother me.
  10. I didn't used to, but since being on RX progesterone, I fall asleep quick and don't wake up until DH gets up in the morning. Love it.
  11. My husband had one done for the meniscus last month, they just did the knee.
  12. These are the favorites around here. We usually have them once in a two week period. -Hawaiian Chicken, served with rice, broccoli (or similar) and pineapple -Tacos/Burritos, served with yellow rice or refried beans, and guacamole, sour cream, tomatoes, etc -Spaghetti, green beans, sometimes with meatballs sometimes without Other really loved favorites that we have often, but not THAT often... -White Chicken Chili -Teriyaki Chicken & Rice -Meatloaf, Beef Roast, or Pork Roast w/ mashed potatoes and veggies -Quesadillas (Bean & Cheese) -Shrimp Alfredo pasta w/ peas -Homemade pizza -French dip sandwiches -Sloppy Joes -Chicken, Broccoli, Rice Casserole
  13. I only got rid of 1 book and 1 shirt today, but at least it is something!
  14. Decluttering! It has made cleaning the house SO much easier. Once you get everything out that you don't use regularly, the things that you do use are so much easier to manage! Decluttering is like permanent cleaning. You never have to move, put away, dust, organize or deal with the things that are gone from your house ever again! It is very freeing.
  15. We've never had neighbors volunteer to help us move, and never volunteered to help other neighbors move. It never even crossed my mind to do that until this thread. I wouldn't want anyone helping us besides people we may have already asked, honestly. Last time we did it just the two of us and then DH called a friend over to help him move some of the really heavy things.
  16. INFJ here, and atheist. I was raised Lutheran, and really WANTED and tried my hardest to believe but I just can't make myself, it just isn't there and the more I tried the further I got from it.
  17. If it is organized, put away, and he can find everything when needed, then I could probably deal with that. For us, though, when we have more stuff, we can never find anything. We end up just buying more, so saving it was pointless. Also, there is a definite cost to keeping the stuff. For me, I'd rather get rid of it and buy later if I happen to need it instead of storing it for years on the chance that I might need it. I used to not feel that way, but I have come to that conclusion over the last year or so, and it is SO freeing! :)
  18. Still going here! The kids cleared out a few more toys, and I found some books that we no longer need. I've cleared out the medicine cabinet as well. We are also trying to eat from the pantry because I actually need to declutter our food a bit! LOL DD & I have had a cold, so I'm moving much slower this week, but still trying to keep going. I almost feel like this is never ending, though!
  19. We went through our room and closet yesterday and got rid of a ton of things. One huge box of donations and some trash as well and a few things to sell. It feels so much better in there now! We are even able to get rid of a piece of large furniture because we no longer need it.
  20. I did part of one of the kid closets today. I couldn't do too much because we were gone most of the day, but I was shocked at what didn't fit, since I clean it out pretty regularly. Tomorrow, there will be more! I don't have any other plans except to declutter more!
