  1. I can't help but wonder if your son is in stress. The statistics are in that older children, who have been potty successfully, and begin wetting the bed are under some kind of serious stress. We had a similar experience and I just thought he was being lazy or a hard sleeper or physically challanged in this area...or just being a boy. Almost 13 yrs. later we found out our son was experiencing horrific stress...and we never saw it. He never said a word. I don't want to sound doom and gloom...but now I know to take it much more seriously than I did then. I hope this is not the case for you, but felt I should say something.
  2. We just started our family tradition of taking a vacation to Myrtle Beach after labor Day...loved it beyond words. Pool was a little chilly, but they have heated pools indoors. Have fun!
  3. thanks! At least I have somewhere to start.
  4. My husband has decided to teach our 8th grader this year so I can concentrate on our younger ones. I am looking for an efficient and good US history curriculum that has everything they need. I would like it to be classical, but not overwhelming. Any suggestions? Thanks
  5. I have heard recently that fear draws evil spirits to us. so, whatever you do, trust in God's love and power, live charitably with one another and do not dwell on your fear.
  6. Absolutely-with no apologies. So glad I happened upon my daughters journal. Found some horrific details that we as parents needed to know. Raising children in a christian home kids learn how to fly below the radar. They learn what to say, how to say it and look religious all the while....been there done that when I was a teenager. I lived in a bubble thinking that: we are christians, we homeschool...that will not happen in our house! Well, thank God for the wake up call! We need to be the watchkeepers...not a buddy.
  7. This is a sched. I worked with for a long time. I had my kids help me and our house stayed so organized. The first week took the longest, but after that I followed this sched. weekly. Chores: sweep entrances, trash, vacuum, bedrooms and kitchen. Monday: Chores Laundry CLEAN laundry room (thorough) Tuesday: Chores Closets Spider Webs Garage/Drive way Wednesday: Chores Laundry Linens Dust Thursday: Chores Floor boards Windows/ceilings Basement floor Friday: Chores Laundry Walls and Doorways +kitchen cabnets Saturday: Chores Bathroom Dust Sunday prep-clothes ready and food prep Sunday: DAY OF REST! Hope this helps.
  8. We run a cleaning business and we love the Bissel canaster vacuumes that we buy at Walmart for between $60-80...sounds cheap, but we use them everyday all day long. They last, can take a beating, and even if they do break down after a couple of years we have gotten our money out them. We love the attachments, they are easy to clean and our favorite have extra long cords. I think you could try it and return it if you're not satisfied.
  9. We have used Memoria Press online courses for the last two years and love them. We used the Latina Christiana the first year and Henle Latin this year. Catherine is learning more with Henle Latin. We've also used the English, Logic, Political Science and History classes . For us it has been a good use of our money and the girls have really enjoyed the teachers and interaction with other kids. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me. I am not sure about the technical part-but they are so helpful.
  10. Tracy, We live in Frankfort, KY...have you planted yet? I am afraid it is too early and since I am a novice I would like to hear (or read) your garden plan.
  11. We run a cleaning business so I try to start between 8-8:30 am so that I can work in the afternoon if necessary.
  12. We run a business and homeschool so the days fly by. For a while I had to go day by day and always felt like I was trying to play catch up, felt guilty for not doing more real schooling and not really know the lessons. For the past month or so, my husband has freed my sched. so i can spend 4-5 hours per week planning, reading ,photocopying, and getting books from the library. What a load of my mind! The best part is: I am enjoying homeschooling again!!!!! We are homeschooling 5 this yr., but I don't have to plan for the two oldest . They take care of themselves.
  13. We use ours for: Latin conjugations Alg. problems Spelling lists math Note taking Copy work I put quotes that I love in the corner every morning for the fam to read Date lists We love it!
  14. Congradulations!!! My advice: ONE DAY AT A TIME...so much for originality! We have seven and once we made it past three it got easier and easier...matter of fact, #7 was the easiest of all. I had so many little and willing hands to help with things like fetching, holding, etc. I will admit to sleep depravation and therefore a lack of memories for a few years, but as long as I take it one day at a time I'm alright. I didn't have much help from family (they live in other states), But God supplied us with good friends. So, here we are safe and sound ...everyone is still alive!!!hahaha. We have two grown and out of the house and 5 more to go. I am still taking my own advice!
  15. Good Morning, I don't know if you are doomed...but, if you do get dry socket, don't panic ...it will be alright. I had it this last fall and I am still here to talk about it! It wasn't pleasant by any means, but they do give you meds to help. If you would like more info you can pm me. Said a prayer for you.
  16. This is great! I grew up watching the EC and had even told my kids about it...even sang a few of their songs...so when we looked it up on youtube my kids loved it! They want me to replay the Menu Song over and over...I don't know how much school we're actually getting accomplished, but it is funny.
  17. We have seven and they all want me to have another one! Having and raising the seventh was the easiest of them all! Imagine that??! I had so much more help and lots of willing and loving hands to help. Our youngest son has brought so much joy into our family that I am so glad we didn't quit at #6. We may not have much of the world's goods, but we are truely happy and crazy about each other. (And I do mean we are crazy sometimes!) Don't be afraid. You are a rich woman!
  18. I want to congradulate you also!!! Are you doing anything special?? I did find a beautiful BB in Louisville-it would be a blast! Fudge?...Oh yeah! Sushi...hhmmm...don't know about that one.
  19. We are celebrating our 25th wedding anniv. this month...even tho' I had dreams of revisiting Hawaii for this grand occasion-it's not going to happen... So, due to our economy, I am trying to come up with something very frugal, but very memorable and FUN. Anyone have creative ideas you'd like to share?? Anyone "been there, done that"? I am married to the best of men and want to show him how much I adore and appreciate his faithfulness and love.:001_wub:
  20. I just read today in the Bible that God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to bear. So I pray that you will be able to trust God to take care of all of your needs.
  21. I am feeling encouraged to not use the dryer because of you! Our electric and gas bill are crazy high this winter...my husband would love it!
  22. Hi, we have seven (2boys and 5 girls). Have you heard of No Greater Joy? I have read some of their books, implimented their advice and have seen a wonderful change from selfish mahem to controllable and peaceful....yes, I said it! Peaceful. Check it out and let me know what you think.
  23. I wonder what women would have said if you would have asked them this question 100, 200, or 1,000 ...shall I go on...years ago???It is only in our "new and progressive" society that we have become enlightened enough to realize we need "our own life"! And as I look around I see that as human beings we are slidding downward so quickly we can't stop ourselves from becoming complete savages...it appears easy to connect the dots. There is much more to it than what I have simply stated, but moms let us beware of what we are listening to, watching and reading.
  24. I have used nationgeographic.com/maps for my kids with SOTW. Hope that helps.
  25. I am interested in making "country wine", but have never thought of it until reading this information. For those of you who do make your own wine, is it a long process to get a yummy wine...I am not that picky!!haha. Just love a glass of wine at the end of the day or on a cold winter night.
