  1. I'm so sorry this happened to you. With the way scrapbooking stores are closing left and right, you'd think the owner would be much more careful about building relationships with customers and would have welcomed you and given you the benefit of the doubt. I would definitely write a letter as others have said, asking for a refund.
  2. When I decided to let my hair go natural, my hairdresser switched my color formula to the kind that will fade, and started putting it in the same way you do highlights. That got rid of the "line" and I slowly started seeing more gray. She didn't want to do actual highlights instead, because then I would have had 3 colors in my hair. I'm really glad I went natural. I hated seeing my roots all the time; my hair grows fast and I would see roots in 2 weeks.
  3. We loved Rainbow Science; I'm surprised more of you didn't like it.

  5. We were rejected by the humane society also. 1) We were intending to put in an invisible fence, but it wasn't in yet. 2) We wanted a goldendoodle (which they had) but we had a child under 6 in the house. We have 4 ADOPTED CHILDREN and couldn't adopt a dog. CRAZY! I should mention, we had had a very active Dalmatian who had needed to be put to sleep due to health reasons at age 14, so the kids were already used to living with a large dog, and we had 4 neutered cats that we had previously adopted from the humane society (same litter.)
  6. This is so confusing and so disturbing that homeschoolers are not able to get the online access. Are there tests in the teacher's manual or do you need to order the assessment pack to get the tests? For those of you that were able to order (something) were you able to order any of the teacher's materials and pay by credit card? From the website it looks like the teacher's manuals have to be paid by a school p.o. account.
  7. Are you thinking of Konos? http://www.konos.com/histheroes/whatshistheroes.htm
  8. I am right there with you. My kids are 18, 14, 6 & 4. I went through early menopause which was really painful to me, even though all my kids were adopted. It makes me feel old.....too old to have any more, even though the desire hasn't gone away. My oldest has special needs and will always be dependent on us, so I'm still a long way away from enjoying grandchildren.
  9. I spotted a lot the last few years of my cycle. I never had until I entered peri-menopause.
  10. You can also take in receipts from curriculum you've purchased.
  11. Yes, I was. It's hard not to worry, I know. :grouphug: In my case, the follow-up tech said that she thought perhaps the first tech didn't smooth me out enough before smooshing, and that it was a fold of skin that made the spot in the first mammo. The follow-up test was fine. I hope it's nothing for you as well. In fact, in the little waiting room, there were three of us there for follow-up tests; all of our second tests were clear. We had bonded a bit in our waiting, and it was really nice that we all got our results about the same time and stayed and celebrated together.
  12. Thanks for all the info! I understand the difference now and you've given me a lot to think about.
  13. "I" finally learned how to lose weight. I log EVERY single thing I eat into Sparkpeople.com. I haven't given up anything. And it's working! I discovered that on the days I wasn't going "really" overboard with my eating, I was eating too few calories. I was slowing my metabolism down and hanging onto every.single.calorie that went into my mouth.
  14. Also, has anyone used the online services that come with the book? I'm wondering how helpful they were or would we need something like Thinkwell Biology (although I'm concerned that since it seems to go with the AP book, it might be over her head.) Help!
  15. Can anyone compare the Miller Levine text with the parrot on the front with the Cambell's texts? There was an earlier thread on this, but it never answered the question. I've read a lot of threads on the Cambell books, and I'm STILL confused about the difference between each cover. I'm looking for a freshman, honors biology, but not necessarily AP. TIA
  16. Headsprout for phonics--I can't believe how well my kg is reading! The Teaching Company World History video--I love the way he ties everything together. Great supplement. Cozy Grammar
  17. My doctor is totally anti-hormones and said she wouldn't prescribe them even if I begged; although I really didn't want them anyway.
